OK but not much use for European models,

Be warned this is strictly US models. Where they are indentical to European ones no problem, but past about 1970 there are significant differences and some models which only existed in one place or the other. The only mention of Europe in fact is to recommend the Amercian audience to stear clear of grey imported European models.

This is THE book if you are considering a used Benz. Frank covers all makes and models. But starting with models from the 60's up to current he has comprehensive reviews, what to look for, and what to look out for. Hints on what is, and will be collectible. This book is enjoyable and informative to read, and has lots of great photos.

A Must for Mercedes Fans,

The book title is a bit of a misnomer. While there's lots of very practical, highly useful information for the prospective buyer, the book also presents a comprehensive and highly readable survey of Mercedes history. If you have never quite been able to figure out what all the various model designations are, this book will answer your questions. As you can expect, the book is particularly helpful for those in the market for a used Benz. And the author treats those who need "daily drivers" as respectfully as the vintage collector. While the author is clearly a Mercedes enthusiast, he does not pull his punches in assessing the weak points in various models. This book is a "must read" before you go looking -- before you get three pointed stars in your eyes.

This is pretty much an essential book if you're thinking about acquiring a Mercedes, or just want to know your way around the line. Great explanations of features. Great info on the various models and how they changed over their years of production. Lots of photos and tables with specs. Succinct and to the point. Definitely worth getting.
