Product Description

Using digital, graphic "paintbox" techniques, this book has voice chips, a mind-blowing double gatefold, 3-D effects and tricksy visual puns galore. It is an illustrated version of the story of Ford Prefect and Arthur Dent, and their travels across the universe.

This is an amazing book. That sounds inadequate, but this edition of the late Douglas Adams' brilliant guide excels itself with wacky full-page colour photos and even a guest appearance from the man himself. The book is presented in an imaginative way, from the large fold-out centre pages depicting the Heart of Gold's interior, to the inside cover images of Marvin the Paranoid Android.

This book's real cover is completely different to the dust cover - and this is where the final touch is added to the masterpiece - the front and back *really* do have DON'T PANIC emblazoned upon them in large, friendly letters.

This is a wonderfully presented book, lovingly created, but BE WARNED - it is only a reprint of the first novel with lavish photo illustrations. It uses NONE of the original radio or TV cast, although there is an appearance by Adams himself. Don't expect any new material, simply re-interpretations of the images you already had in your head. Its worth will obviously increase in time and it's a must for collectors, but I found it a little disappointing.

This is a book for those who are limited in the ways of putting pictures to the the text. A lot of very good and amusing photos accompany the well-known text of the first part of the trilogy. Some of them will for obvious reasons surprise the reader, but it is a book that will take a prominent place in the home of any fan of DNA and it will be brought out and reread noumerous times (Or just 'rewatched', the pictures talk for themselves). Just one thing is missing: Where are the four other parts of the trilogy (Oh, that's ehh.... four other things)

OK well - Jonathan Ross has made a decent fist of entering the comic universe - which celebrity can't you wait for to enter the fray with their own graphic novel, and er, if you like, what would it be about ? 1 1 day ago
