Amazon Review

The healing power of homeopathy has become more and more evident as increasing numbers of people leave traditional medicine in search of alternative ways of healing. Developed more than 200 years ago by German physician Samuel Hahnemann, the principles behind homeopathy deal with treating the individiual as a whole--holistically--rather than concentrating merely on the symptoms produced.

Homeopathy: An Illustrated Guide is based around the Materia Medica--a compendium of the principal remedies used in homeopathy. In addition to an A-Z listing of the remedies included, the book also details how to use them, how to find and prepare remedies, and when it would be best to visit a professional practitioner. The Repertory Index at the back of the book lists symptoms and illnesses alphabetically, making it easy to dip into the book as needed. However, the lovely illustrations and photographs, fascinating information and extensive cross referencing between remedies throughout the book mean it is also a great read. Definitely one for the holistic healer's bookshelf. --Lucie Naylor

This book is part of an Illustrated Guide series which includes Reflexology, Aromatheraphy, Flower Essences, Vitamins & Minerals, and Herbalism.

5.0 out of 5 stars great book! 19 Jun 2000
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
If you are interested in learning about homeopathy, this is a must-have book. The format of the book is excellent, with the layout of a reference book, but balanced with illustrations to help further educate the reader. It contains lots of interesting facts, such as the history and use of homeopathy, and even a section on what to expect when visiting a practitioner. I like how everything is written in plain english; one doesn't need to have a medical degree to learn from the text.
5.0 out of 5 stars great for beginners 22 Mar 2011

I love this reference! It is clearly organized, visually laid out, and concise. It is simple enough for a beginner to self treat from, and compares remedies for clarification of symptoms.

There is a part about case histories, and about diagnosing, also overview of what homeopathy is/does.

It's also nice - to me - that it is large. It's easy to find! It's about 8x11 inches maybe a bit more, yet thin, maybe 2/5 of an inch.

It covers quite a few remedies, and has a further reading list in the back.

3.0 out of 5 stars COFFEE table book 12 Oct 2006
By Harmony - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Nice pictures and gives a very general view of remedies and some on constitutions, but not a book to learn about the use of remedies.

Better with some book for Homeopathic first aid where it is way more useful and practical.
