Incorrectly titled. 23 Feb. 2015
By F. Stuart Smith - Published on
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
This is, at best, a general introduction to Buddhism for non-Buddhist readers. It contains many attractive photographs and few (if any) errors. But, "Buddhism" (like Christianity) consists of innumerable sects or "schools." If the reader wishes to know how the Nyingma sect differs from the Gelug or Kagyu traditions, or how Rinzai differs from Soto or Obaku Zen, he/she will consult this volume in vain. It's not a "bad" book, it simply isn't an encyclopedia. Indeed, it could not even pass as a "concise" encyclopedia.
