4.0 out of 5 stars Good cross over for acedemia and the fan..., 1 Jan 2011
By A. Sutton "Andy" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Illuminating "Torchwood": Essays on Narrative, Character and Sexuality in the BBC Series (Critical Explorations in Science Fiction and Fantasy) (Paperback)
As a fan of the series and having studied (and work in) the media - I found this book offered a well balanced critique on Torchwood. This is a collection of essays that are entertaining in their own right - but as a collection, they provide a wealth of material for debate and enables you to revisit the episodes with a fresh perspective.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing and Biased Essay Collection on Torchwood, 18 April 2010
By M. E. McCombs - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Illuminating "Torchwood": Essays on Narrative, Character and Sexuality in the BBC Series (Critical Explorations in Science Fiction and Fantasy) (Paperback)
I purchased this book looking for the usual detailed anaylsis that this series of essay collections presents on the shows and books they explore. I don't know if it was a bias introduced by the books editor or by the BBC who had broadcast the show but either way this book seems to explore only the sexuality of Jack Harkness and Gwen Cooper with negilible mention of the other characters in the series. I returned the book frustrated with the way the essays were done.
