5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant!, 26 Aug 2007
By Goldfishrock (Dartmoor, UK) - See all my reviews
Another great read from Stella Rimington. The reader is quickly dragged into the murky world of the Intelligence Community, following Liz Carlyle and the intricacies of her life and work. I'm not going to talk about the plot of the book so as not to spoil for anyone reading this review..... but if you are a fan of BBC 1's `Spooks', you'll love this book.

As in her previous two offerings, this book is well written and a good read from start to finish. I can't wait for the next instalment...............

4.0 out of 5 stars Russian Oligarchs, 29 Aug 2007

This is Stella's 3rd Novel, l even read her Autobiography.
Her previous 2 novels have been set around Terror campaigns from the iddle East. While she worked at MI5, she certainly researched her work, for those two books.
We don't like to admit it, but relations with Russia, are are not at best, and this time Stella is transferred to MI6, (Counter espionage), it seems there is revenge set for one of the Russian Oligarchs steps Liz and her longstanding investigator, and friend Peggy Kinsolving, to help crack the case.
Well worth the read, and l'll be back for more. I would say please go back to the Middle East problem's, but most likely Stella will do what is very topical, and use her knowledge as brilliantly as she does.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good but a bit gentle, 22 Aug 2007
By Wendy Jones "wjones7423" (Southampton, England) - See all my reviews

I enjoyed this latest offering from Stella Rimington. As usual she takes you into the world of MI5 via the life of her heroine Liz Carlyle, who has been transferred to counter espionage. It made a change to be back with the "Russians" and Rimington handles the story well. The characters are well scripted and it is easy to find yourself getting involved in their lives. On the whole the plot moves along nicely, but it is a lot more gentle than her previous offerings. As I say I did enjoy it, but look forward to her next offering being as fast paced as the originals.

5.0 out of 5 stars rather good
This book is good: it is cool, calm and somewhat detached, like the heroine, Liz Carlyle. The world of british spying portrayed is absorbing because it is authentic. Read more
