5.0 out of 5 stars Dark 10 Aug 2010
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is not music to listen to at a party as it's dark and unforgiving. However you can't knock the unbridled genius of Roots. They are head and shoulders above everyone and have been for years. Buy this, get the others and make them the biggest band in the world. They deserve to be.

By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
Preceded by the banging single 'Clones', Philadelphia's finest signalled that any comparisons with other so called hip-hop bands are seriously misjudged on 'Illadelph Halflife'. This can only be a good thing as it shows The Roots are even more innovative than previously thought. They've moved into the territory of making real hip-hop with a live band and fixing their relationship with any fans not convinced of their commitment to street sounds. This record is altogether harder than their first album - 'Do You Want More?'. That it was not done at the expense of their thoughtful lyrics and broader appeal is a considerable accomplishment. Perfectly formed, 'Illadelph Halflife' deserves greater love from hip-hop fans as this is a real hip-hop outfit producing intelligent and thoughtful music.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best progressive rap albums produced 3 April 2013
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
Inspirational jazz based rap album with as always the Roots brand of powerful lyrics. If you are enough of an adult to want an alternative to lyrics about how many chains your have, people you've killed, or women you've violated, buy this album.
