Doris Day and Danny Thomas both stared in this film wonderfully together, with the great story and great song this musical is another of the ones that I recommend you to watch. Grace LeBoy (Doris Day) and Gus Kahn (Danny Thomas) are partners in the music trade Grace witing the music and Gus writing the lyrics. It takes Gus years to ask Grace to Marry her And in the height of an argument he does it. They get married and have two children. This story watches Gus rise to the top, then slowly deteriate, when Gus falls ill grace helps him back to streangth and then he rises to the top again. this musical is a great film to watch and I have watched it time and time again, loving and knowing all the words to the songs.

Back in the Day! 28 April 2011
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
This takes me back to the days when I was a kid
who discovered the magic of the cinema and grew up
with bio-pics of names unknown to me but which
allowed me to discover great songs and singers along
the way. Gus Kahn was one of the top lyricists of
the golden age of song-writing and he gets fine
service from Danny Thomas in the role, with top
support from the wonderful Doris Day. A welcome
and evocative reminder - in "glorious black and white" - of why these songs still stay with us.

Bygone Days 24 Jan 2012

I suppose you have to be my age (don't ask) to enjoy this Video (shame it is not in CD in this country!) but a heart-warming story of a great musician in his trials of getting just the right tune to sell and one of Doris Day's earliest films as the dutiful wife who leads her husband onto the right path and sees he stays on it! Don't we all? She gives him the encouragement to keep going. In the end (won't tell you) but I've seen it many times and still need my handky!!! Great oldie stuff!!!
