5.0 out of 5 stars Really Helpful 1 Jan 2012
By Helen
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I know this is really a booklet not a book but so helpful. You feel a bit alone when you have a dog you can not leave. This helps you make the tentitive steps to freedom for you and your dog you start to desensitize your dog by picking up coat and keys etc and putting them down moving on to steps to the door whilst your dog is enjoying a big kong. Well worth buying helps make new path ways in the dogs brain with regards to association its the amount of repititions that slowly build things up any fear from the dog and you are going to fast. Good luck and stick with it you will be rewarded.

1.0 out of 5 stars sequels are not as good as the first 10 July 2011
Format:Paperback
i read - on the other end of the leash - by the same author. the book was informative and well written although somewhat anecdotal in the later part, nonetheless an excellent book

in comparison this short brochure disappoints - i'd recommend "on the other end of the leash" for everyone, dog owners or not but i'll need persuading to buy other books by the same author

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good 14 Feb 2010
Format:Paperback
I found this book to be a very easy to read guide to what is, and what isn't separation anxiety, how to prevent problems and how to deal with problems when you have got them.
It is written in McConnells usual style of looking at situations from the dog's point of view reminding us not to put our own emotions and cognition on to the dog.
My only criticisim would be that it is a thin book so quite expensive for what you actually get.

5.0 out of 5 stars smart and to-the-point 11 July 2011
By Sadune
Format:Paperback
a little booklet for a very specific problem. I loved the witty style of writing, full of useful tips, she not only covers actual separation anxiety but also how to prevent it in the first place and deal with dogs that are just getting too bored alone at home
