Product Description

The Big Match - Chelsea DVD2433

Packed with big hair, big 'tashes, but not so big shorts, The BIG Match is a nostalgic trip down memory lane, revisiting an era in which families across the land would huddle around the TV every weekend to watch live football beamed into their living room.

Anchored by Brian Moore, this DVD will transport you to a time when football really was a funny old game; players showed more leg than a bucket of KFC; the smell of bovine based drinks consumed the terraces of Stamford Bridge; and Ray Wilkins had hair!

So pick a spot in front of the telly for an afternoon of entertainment delivered with the charm, wit and style oozed by Brian Moore and Jimmy Hill, and revisit classic action from the best of The BIG Match as the likes of Osgood, Nevin, and Wilkins bang them in.

Blue Yesterdays 9 July 2009
Size Name:One Size Only
I got this recently and spent 2 hours reliving my younger days. Ossie, Hutch, and all including some great wins and goals. Brian Moore screaming at the top of his voice. Those of you who are true blues and too young to remeber Ossie and co at their best should watch this. Those that do remember Ossie will love it.

An excellent DVD.
The Big Match theme tune rivals that of MOTD and introduces each season.
I was transported back to Sunday afternoons of yesteryear...post-Sunday lunch and pre-Ann Aston on The Golden Shot.
Superb footage from a dozen games, including victory at Man City when Chelsea wore a sexy yellow/green/yellow strip and Duncan McKenzie scored a rare goal ; plus additional features including Ossie meeting Racquel Welch.
Top notch.

The best thing of my whole christmas 2009 was spent watching this masterpiece. The "big match music" theme tune almost sent a shiver down my spine when I first heard it. Being 41 I had not seen some of the real early matches so that was fantastic to see some of those matches. Real early black and white filming, so original and real. All match highlights were fantastic and just almost sureal to the modern day match coverage via SKY etc.
The most fasinating aspect of the whole DVD was to see the ground slowly change and the crowds dwinddle away as they slowly reach the 80's. I absolutely adore my memories of my first matches at Stamford Bridge as I imagine most people who buy this DVD do too. If they never came until the 90's then fans will be intrigued as to how very large the ground was in size and how far away the pitch was. You forget that some of the goals scored look like they were scored at Wembley because of the camera angles back then. The other thing that struck me was the old crowd shots and how cool the 70's was and how passionate the atmosphere was in the 70's and 80's even with far lower crowds than now. I was part of those dire crowds so it was very refreshing hear the crowd singing and the raw passion Chelsea fans had then. All the DVD missed was a few pitch invasions, as that was very representative of the time and the passion in that bygone time. If you are a real Chelsea fan or of any generation this represents how football was and in some ways should be and a wonderful part of our wonderful football club we love. I hope that they produce many more of these DVD from the 70's and 80's as they will be very poular.
Watch and enjoy
