If you have watched Kill Bill Volume 1, Then you have heard of the songs from this soundtack like "Il Grande Duello (Parte Prima)" and "Il Grande Duello (Parte Sesta)" although in the credits of Kill Bill vol.1, the Sesta version is called "Il Grande Duello / The Grand Duel, M10". When the Bride is in the back seats of the "PussyWagon" trying to move her feet or "Wiggle your big toe..." you hear Parte Sesta or "M10". Then the Bride tells of a story of Oren Iishi you hear most the time Parte Prima, and then you again here Parte Sesta when Oren kills the gangster boss and his guards (which is slightly extended in the movie and is called in the credits "Il Grande Duello / The Grand Duel, A (Mix II)"). I love Quentin Tarantino movies because for one, They're freaking awesome, and 2nd he uses most the time, Unnoticed music, like this. You know whats funny... This seemed to been better fitted music for Kill Bill vol.1 than its own film The Grand Duel. Kill Bill vol.2 he again uses a score of Luis Bacalov from Summertime Killer. Anyway to THIS soundtrack; Luis Bacalov is not really well known, the most known work of Bacalov is Il Postman/The Postman. The reason this Music was Luis's most noticed work was because the movie The Postman was noticed. The movie Il Grande Duello/The Grand Duel was a very, very, very low budget movie, who starred Lee Van Cleef.
Luis Bacalov's Score to this film is my favorite of almost all other western soundtracks. And yes i know of Ennio Morricone, he is one of the most famous composers known today, hes mainly known for making western soundtracks. But he has not made one better then this.
I would tell you to buy this, but you should know that this soundtrack is lost forever, If you actually find someone selling it, You will probably have to pay a LARGE amount of money to buy it, Like me. I paid $52 for U.S. version, and $80 for the Jap version... I am one of a lucky few who has this, The Jap version has extended tracks... Yes theres Japenese version, look on Soundtrackcollector. If you dont know, This Soundtrack is actually Two Soundtracks to "Il Grande Duello" and also "It Can Be Done...Amigo". The "It Can Be Done...Amigo" is okay, but nothing compared to Il Grande Duello score.
