About the Author
Shozo Sato is a master of Zen arts, including Ikebana, Japanese Tea Ceremony and Sumi-e (black ink painting). He conducts workshops on Ikebana and Sumi-e throughout the U.S., Asia and Europe and is the author of numerous books including Tea Ceremony, Ikebana and The Art of Sumi-e. He was the founding director of Japan House at the University of Illinois, where he is Professor Emeritus and continues to teach Japanese arts. In 1944, upon the death of his father, the Second Generation Grandmaster, Kasen Yoshimura became the Third Grandmaster of the Ryusei School of Ikebana. A big book, in both size and thickness, with lots of pix and step-by-step arrangements. It's my second favourite of over a dozen Ikebana books I have purchased (my favourite is the original version, published in 1968 and still available secondhand - ISBN 0810901943 - and with 350 pages whilst this book has about 200) and the many more that I have looked at. Definitely one for your bookshelves if you are interested in Ikebana.
