I really enjoyed this book. It was a fun and exciting read that had me laughing out loud on more than one occasion.

I loved Jes. She was so funny and sarcastic and I could easily imagine myself becoming friends with her. Nearly everything she said had me bursting out laughing. She was hilarious! The one thing that I didn't like about her was how she started crying at the slightest thing. Don't get me wrong, she is one tough chick but she was a bit too emotional at times. Another thing that annoyed me was how easily she forgave her friend Amanda when she started going out with a boy she knew Jes liked. I though that was a pretty bitchy thing for a best friend to do and if I was Jes I would have been a bit more angry with Amanda.

I also really liked Seth. He was funny and dorky and seemed more real than the usual dark and brooding types that most YA books feature. He was a great love interest as you could easily imagine meeting someone like him in real life. Lily was also a great character. She was spunky and feisty and some of the things she said were just brilliant. Towards the end of the story though I started to feel so sorry for her as I learned more about the things she has faced.

The story itself was interesting. Nothing much happened in the beginning but things soon picked up about half way in. The paranormal aspect of the book really held my interest. I haven't read any books centered around these creatures. I was actually surprised when I found out what they were so that piqued my interest more. The romance was so much more believable than other books. There was none of the instant love that is in about 90% of YA books. I loved that about this book. I am a big romantic but there are only so many instant-love stories that I can read before it gets dull.

Although the romance moves kind of slow it's packed with humour and suspense. I think this book is exciting and the characters are amazing. I recommend it to those who are looking for a humorous thrilling read.

I really enjoyed this book, it was a really good read and the supernatural parts were fantastic. The "lovely-dovey" parts I did not enjoy as much. More action less love story, please!

I am a big romantic but there are only so many instant-love stories that I can read before it gets dull. A thing that was never explained though was the dreams that Jes was having of the fire and brimstone. I have a theory but hopefully things will be explained in book 2.

Overall a great edgy read with witty characters, snappy dialogue and some great action scenes. There is something for everyone in this book.

*Content: There is a lot of strong language used so for that reason I would recommend this to older teens.

HASH(0x8cd155c4) out of 5 stars Realistic, fresh dialogue, great plot. 19 April 2012
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com

Teen paranormal romance is definitely NOT my usual read but a friend wanted me to read this and I was very pleasantly surprised! I expected insufferable characters and improbable, contrived circumstances, but there was none of that (of course aside from the paranormal aspect)! The characters were believable, the dialogue was very strong (I agree with a previous reviewer than the grammar was improper at time but always in character), and the plot was excellent. I really enjoyed how the romance, etc developed at a slower, more natural pace and did not feel forced or unbelievable.

I do agree with other reviewers about Seth being a bit of a shallow character. Amanda is also a little shallow and it's a little hard to see Jes sticking around her but that's her prerogative. Again, like other reviewers, the parents seemed way too lenient and cool, but I don't think it weakened the story much/at all.

I can't wait to get my hands on more of Ezra's work. For now he's the only TPR author I'm going to read.

I didn't experience the same Kindle formatting issue as some of the other reviewers so you definitely shouldn't EXPECT lines missing, etc.

SPOILERS BELOW!

To the reviewer who said Jes' fire/brimstone dreams were unexplained: That is not true. Lily explains that all at the end of the book.

To the reviewer who said the dreams/premonitions were unnecessary: I disagree. I think the dreams and the betrayal they represent add a lot to the Jes-Lily-Seth dynamic. In fact, if Lily didn't betray Jes how she did then Seth's decision to stay with Jes would seem totally unreasonable.

To the reviewer who said the plot is "all over the place": I disagree, but you're entitled to your opinion. I thought the plot was actually quite cohesive. It was not a SIMPLE plot, of course, but I don't think that makes it "all over the place."

If Rosemary's Baby had a trilogy, this would be it! I can't wait to read more. You put that it's a trilogy... so make it happen!

the main character showed real emotion like a teen girl. the leading guy was somthing not usualy found in young adult. which i love reading somthing different that stands out and breaks the mold a bit. which is getting harder to find in young adult. my favorite thing about the book is that they actualy talk and act like high school teens. slang, sarcasm, ect. i will b recomending this to others. cant wait for the next one.
