Biography

"We want to offer something new with every album," says Dexter Holland, frontman of THE OFFSPRING.

After nine records, that's certainly not an easy task for any band. However, THE OFFSPRING have more than a few surprises up their sleeves, and their ninth studio album, DAYS GO BY, is staggering proof. Produced by Bob Rock (Metallica, Mötley Crüe, The Cult), the ... When i first heard this album, i really didn't like it because i was so used to the sounds of Conspiracy of One and Americana so i didn't listen to it for a while. But like so many amazing albums, you often cant stand it before you realize its true potential to be brilliant. Hugely powerful songs such as dirty magic (my favourite offspring song) are complemented by songs with catchy riffs and lyrics such as 'Kick him when he's down' and 'Burn it up'.
This album is definitely more heavy going than their more recent releases and really makes Splinter sound a bit of a joke to be honest (not a fan). If you're an offspring fan and love the rawer sounds of smash and ixnay, get this album and if you're a fan or Americana, C of 1 or Splinter listen to this album and see what you think. If you dont know The Offspring, this should be the first album in your collection. If you want a great rock album, GET IGNITION NOW!

ok yes this didnt sell as many copies as smash or probably any of the other albums they released after that but it should have done. it is a fantastic album from start to finish. the songs are fast and punchy and probably among the heaviest that the spring have ever written. you can see very clearly that this album is the logical progresion from their self titled debut with all the rawness of any punk band to the slightly more polished uber record that was smash. ignition is no better or no worse than either of those records and it is shame that this album seems almost to have been left behind as it is a phenominal if basic collection of ludicrously catchy songs. all about three minutes long and with wall to wall waa-ooo`s. simple, direct, basic all of these are true and that is what makes this band so good and they didnt do it much better anywhere else than this album.

This is one of the offsprings finest. A lot of people i know say they hate this album but thats because they havent given it time. After a couple of listens this becomes one AWESOME ALBUM! Every track works. Theres the catchy slice of Punk rock that is "LAPD" and the screaming "KICK HIM WHEN HE'S DOWN". And if thats not enough its got their finest ever song "Dirty Magic" which is one of the best songs ever! Dont listen to the slates and trust me, BUY THIS NOW!

This was the fourth Offspring album that i bought and i thought the other ones such as 'Smash' were unbeatable, but i was definately wrong. This album is amazing. It is probably the heaviest album they have done and it is punk rock as it should be, without the clean cut approach of some of their later work such as 'conspiracy of one'. Tracks such as 'L.A.P.D' and 'burn it up' stand out although every single one is a blinder. I recommend this along with the other epitaph releases 'Smash' and 'Ixnay on the hombre'. It is a shame that such a great band had to sell out and modify their music but they deserve the money they now earn with such a great back catalogue. Buy 'Ignition' now, it will stay at the forefront of your music collection for years.

I just got this album. I have a load of other Offspring albums, so I kind of got this one randomly. First time I listened to it I was pretty disappointed. But second time through it gets better. Then after a while the raw brilliance that is the offspring comes out. The guitar may not be as incredible as later albums, but it has moments that just make you stop and listen very hard, and the amazing riffs are always there. Verdict: Pretty damn good + it is one of the Offsprings punkest album for extra points.

some say that this album is not very good. to that i say 'bollocks'!! this album is superb. it comes in the top 2 offspring albums that i own (along with ixnay) and it is superb. there are the truly emotion provoking songs like 'dirty magic' intermingled with the true punk of 'session' and 'kick him when hes down'. one of my favourite songs, however, is 'lapd'. it is a stunningly fast and excellent song. my advice to every offspring fan is to get this or ixnay. you wont be disappointed, at all.

I hav to state this from the beginning. I had never heard an Offspring song from Ignition before i bought this because I KNEW the sounds would be excellent. As soon as I put the CD on for the first time and heard the way that they started SESSION with a brilliant drum beat and then started witht the guitar, I knew that dissapointment didn't arrive. All throughout their album they keep up excellent guitar riffs that make me so envious of their talent. Song six, Dirty Magic has such an brilliant sound i can't help but imagine myself playing it! They are that good! Now before I sound like all i do is praise them they do have one flaw, Their tenth song LAPD is the sort of song that derives from WHY DONT YOU GET JOB and WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU? I do believe that this is a brilliant type of song but it seems that all their albums (bar OFFSPRING i don't have it yet) have this sort which begins to make me think that they are running out of ideas. Other than that WELL DONE OFFSPRING, I NEVER NEED TO HEAR DEMO'S, I KNOW YOU WONT DISSAPOINT! YOU ARE THE BEST
