If you have never read a book about a saint's life that is the perfect title to start. Ignatius Loyola was above all one of us - I mean a regular person - who due to some events that took place in his life he became involved in an inner path that led him eventually to priesthood and later on to sainthood. But as we go on reading the story of Mr. Loyola we realize that he was determined to apply for sainthood, so he did most of the things he did in order to achieve this purpose. It is a curious story in which we are confronted with the drama of having to choose between assuming God revealed something to Ignatius Loyola or beliving - and that is probably what happened- that Mr. Loyola was so deeply willing to be awarded sainthood that he established some institutions and did some things just to get what he wanted most of all. Besides the reasons, the fact is Ignatius Loyola created a masterpiece of spirituality- the spiritual exercises- which can be regarded as a sort of premiere of psychoanalysis and he helped increasing the love for learning as a highly fulfilling experience.
