Beautiful! 12 Dec 2005
By A Customer
Format:Hardcover
I have read & immensely enjoyed Ceclia Ahern's previous 2 books (PS, I Love You & Where Rainbows End) & was desperate to get my hand on this one when it was released. And I wasn't disappointed - it was so wonderfully different to some of the mush on the shelves these days and I fell in love with all the characters right away. The storyline could almost be described as a grown-up fairytale which allows you to escape into a a fantasy world where we all have imaginary friends watching over us! I thought the whole book was lovely from start to finish (and I did not want it to finish!) - I would recommend it to anyone!

Fabulous read 30 May 2011
Format:Paperback
If you lack imagination and cannot relate to your own childhood and "childish" behaviour then you may believe the many very negative reviews. When I read these negative reviews I could not help but feel that they simply completely missed the point and represented the very character they are criticizing.
This book is about growing up and losing the freedom and wisdom only a child has. I tackles personal circumstances that mould our character and offers ways to overcome some burdens associated with this.
I found it a wonderful read and very hard to put aside. I think those who could not finish the book were unable to cope with the revelations it offered about themselves.

As to the "bad english": I understood it perfectly well. It does not have to be poetic like Homer to be a good read in my opinion.

Couldnt put it down! 16 May 2011
By Sue
Format:Paperback
I've read some of the reviews for this book and was amazed to see some negativity, but everyone has a right to their say, I suppose, so here goes, my turn:
'If you could see me now'from the very first page captured my imagination and kept me guessing all the way through. It made me laugh and cry often within a couple of pages. What a gem! This book has wonderful living, breathing characters and an imaginative and creative story line quite unlike any book I've read before. I have had many happy holidays in Ireland as a child and I felt an added bonus of being transported back to Ireland in this book.
The characters were real and believable and it made me want an Imaginary Friend too......gutted now I never had one when I was growing up. It kept me reading right through to the end wondering and guessing what would be over the next page.
I always think that if a book can make you race to the final chapter, and want more, it's worth passing on my opinion to you, (for what it's worth). Take it or leave it as you will, but you will be sorrrrrrrry if you pass!!! WOOP! Cecelia...more PLEASE!

A really good read
I really enjoyed reading this book. Not as good as P.S I Love You but it was still interesting and funny. I would recommend this book to anyone.

It was alright.
It was OK. It wasn't great. Just standard, made only better because it has 'Cecelia Ahern' written on the cover. Written by any other author I wouldn't have bothered. Read more

what a load of clap-trap
This is a great concept for a children's book. But this, sadly, is badly written, poorly executed, sloppily edited, predictable, dull, slow, unimaginative, and just a sad waste of... Read more
