I have read & immensely enjoyed Ceclia Ahern's previous 2 books (PS, I Love You & Where Rainbows End) & was desperate to get my hand on this one when it was released. And I wasn't disappointed - it was so wonderfully different to some of the mush on the shelves these days and I fell in love with all the characters right away. The storyline could almost be described as a grown-up fairytale which allows you to escape into a a fantasy world where we all have imaginary friends watching over us! I thought the whole book was lovely from start to finish (and I did not want it to finish!) - I would recommend it to anyone!

Like `A Place Called Here', Cecilia Aherne takes a lost women and follows her journey of reconnection with a dose of `magic' thrown in. Somehow she never loses the reader; we even find ourselves caring about what happens to an imaginary friend.

Some may prefer the down to earth, true to life 'P.S. I Love You', and might find this book difficult to connect with properly, but in that case you're half proving the point of the story - that we can get so stuck in the mundane reality of everyday life, we don't allow ourselves to let go sometimes.

The secret to Aherne's success is her ability to weave in inventive, out-of-the-ordinary scenarios, that at the heart of them hold moving and affecting issues we all struggle with. Not to mention her easygoing style of writing and pin sharp observation of human interaction.

I particulary like the author's use of visual imagery in her writing, and that her (often flawed) heroines are as far from the typical big city PR girl types as you can get.

If you could see me now is a lovely read. In typical Ahern style she takes a topic, in this case an imaginary friend, and puts a different slant on it. In some cases this can come across as silly and immature but that is part of the magic...making an imaginary friend plausible and real. Ivan is real in the story, Luke and Elizabeth have a lovely relationship with him. Cecilia has a way of making imaginary things, places , myths real and bringing to life, in this particular story the imaginary friends, with their own personalities and problems the team of friends support each other whilst sorting other people with their issues. A wonderful easy read, which does not have the predictable ending that I anticipated.

One thing l loved about her book 'The gift' was the ending lived up to the rest of the book and therefore didn't disappoint me. So many books now have predicting endings but Cecelia's stories are all so unique (for me anyway) and seem really thought out stories with some 'magic' in but not a book which is so make believe, you really do start to believe!

As with the 'The Gift' l was transported into another world due to way Cecelia wrote the book, for me l don' t like a scene being described for pages as l get a bit bored but l have found Cecelia describes things enough to picture it but not enough to bored me.

Really enjoyed this book =)

I read this author's other book "P S I love You" and thought I would try her other novels. This book is absolutely lovely, part romantic novel and part fairy tale. You can relate to the main character in the book, she is not perfect in any way but is trying her best. Ivan comes into her life just when she needs him most. He is fun loving and childlike and makes her see her life in a different light.
After I had read the book it made me look around me and appreciate all that life has to offer, especially the small everyday things. What more could you wish for in a novel? Easy to read, makes you smile and then to remember it long after you read it.

I think the beauty of Cecelia Ahern's books is that she has a great imagination and always comes up with original ideas for stories, I've read and enjoyed her previous two books.
That said, I couldn't help feeling that I was reading a story written by a schoolgirl when I read this book - although I realise that the point of the story was for us to suspend disbelief and believe in magic, I did find that the childish tone started to irritate me slightly towards the end.
I hope I'm not too cynical (I love Harry Potter!) but I really think I would have enjoyed this book far more as a teenager.

This is my second favourite Ahern book after PS I love you. For being that bit different than the usual beach-reads; it's an escape from reality and you certainly suspend reality whilst you read this bit of magic and make-believe. You just go with the flow and what you receive is a heart-warming tale about Elizabeth who is afraid to let anyone get close to her, and even with her nephew, Luke who yearns to be hugged, she keeps her distance.

Along comes Ivan, who brings out her inner child but he isn't who he is - as normal people can't see him. Read it and finds out what happens - I did twice!
