5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful, 13 Sep 2009

Just wonderful. I have read other Idlers, but this is the best so far. Lovely cloth cover and quality paper pages. Great essays encouraging you to live and to have the courage to let go of the slavish daily slog. Inspiring. Buy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best Idler by far, 23 Sep 2009
By Kane Clements "Klem" (UK West Country) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is the best edition of The Idler. Past editions have been fragmented and one needed to rummage through each edition to find the good stuff. This one takes the whole concept to a far higher level. It is more joined up and gains focus as a result. The Idler at it's best is entertaining, persuasive and polemical. This delivers on all levels. Not just a good read but a volume one can return to.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic, 3 Aug 2009
By curly mills "curly mills" (hampshire, england) - See all my reviews
Fantastic. Book of essays and conversations to make you think. Good for dipping in and out of. Alternative visions and ideas for childcare, economics, living, health etc .... Contributions from Alain De Botton, Penny Rimbaud, John Mitchinson, Jay Griffiths, Paul Kingsnorth, Oliver James. A beautiful cloth hardback, really enjoyed reading this and it will be one that stays on my bookshelf.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great mental stimulus
I have had Idlers before, but stopped a couple of years ago as I thought it had run out of ideas. The new format, a bit more formal and serious, is what I was after. Read more
