This book is principally based on a series of case studies with illustrated photographs to address the issue of identity and place through design. At first, I thought it may contain useful urban design graphics which would aid my own understanding and perhaps for practical application purposes.
However, although this book should be supplemented by a knowledge of Bentley's "Responsive Environment" publication, it is essentially a text-ful description of a subject which would normally require more graphic visuals than text, given th design focus. A couple of end chapters on the synthesis of identity by design through case studies provided a glimpse of hope in terms of providing further guidance on the methodology which should be adopted to promote identity through design, but quickly again reverted back to text description.
Recommended for a good reading and supplementary though not much practical or academic help.
