I have a couple of other books in this series, and both are fairly good.....this one however is just apalling! Information is confined to a couple of sentences and the way each page is set out is awful. But worst of all are the illustrations themselves which are just abysmal and couldn't possibly aid ID of anything, some of them just look like brown splats on the paper with no definition whatsoever.
If you're looking for a book that will tell you approximately how many different species of beetle, fly, ladybird, grasshopper, moth etc there are in Britain,and nothing else, then go for this one. If you're looking for a book you want to use as a field guide or a reference then just don't bother wasting your money.
