Review

This collection of his articles, speeches and correspondences spans philosophy, politics, friendship, education, religion and science... Do not be daunted by the author or the title. This is a readable book that illuminates the man rather than the lauded genius. --Astronomy Now

Einstein's physics transformed how we understand the world, and his pacifism inspired generations. --New Scientist

Einstein's humanistic and political writings, which reveal his broad range of non-scientific interests. The best examples of these essays, as well as some eloquent eulogies, can be found in his book Ideas and Opinions. --The Guardian --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

Albert Einstein's 'Ideas & Opinions' is a collection of insightful, creative and rich essays which reflect upon a variety of issues. Einstein's unparalleled genius for the Sciences is reflected upon every page of this book. He covers many subjects which are of growing importance to this day, such as pacifism, the role of the USA in the world, sociology, scientific and religious coexistence and so on, forthrightly, with convincing clarity.

I have found this book to be an excellent way of understanding the world's entropy through the eyes of one of the greatest thinkers we shall ever know. One can only speculate at what the world would be like should he still be alive today. Read this book, if only to keep this man's brilliant ideas alive.

Overall, recommended 27 Oct 2002
Format:Hardcover
This book has two parts that I am not sure go togather. In the first part (p. 1-216) the authir presents his views on politics, religion, humanity and other such topics. It was the interest in these topics that prompted me to read the book. In the second part (p. 217-377) Prof. Einstein discusses his analytical work. I must admit that not beeing a Physicist, at times I was not able to follow. For that reason I cannot comment on that part of the book. Overall, I would recommand reading this book if only for its first part.
