Product Description

About the Artist
Digitalism's debut album, Idealism, is already one of the most highly anticipated releases of the year. Although it's still early days for the Hamburg-based duo, with just three EPs under their belt (released on the Franco-Japanese label Kitsuné, and featuring "Zdarlight", one of last year's hottest club anthems) plus several critically acclaimed remixes (of tunes by Depeche Mode, Klaxons and Daft Punk, among others) and a series of organic live performances, Digitalism has built itself a solid reputation and stands ready to ride the new electro wave currently breaking over dance floors worldwide (sparked by Justice, Does It Offend You Yeah?, MSTRKRFT and more).

5.0 out of 5 stars Idealism is dance perfection, 13 Jun 2007
Just an amazing electro album. Finally there's a great electro act to come out these days !
Melting Rock influences (The Cure, New Order) and House references (Daft Punk, Kraftwerk) this two germans musicians are re freshing electronic music !

Really enjoying the whole album from A to Z with huge club banging tunes (Zdarlight, Jupiter Room) to ballads (Echoes, Moonlight, AppoloGize) and rock songs (I Want I Want, Anything New) ...

Can't wait to see them live at Wireless Festival with Jens singing and Isi drumming !!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Digitalism is not Daft Punk, 14 Jun 2007
The album is epic. It will open mind to many people who started with daft punk and went further to Soulwax and now are stumbling around in the nu rave scene.

The bass line is mark in many of their songs. But it's the background to develop a bracing progressive melody in each track. What began with Zdarlight goes up to immense heebie-jeebies while listing to "Pogo", particularly due to the great voice of Jence and continues in tracks like "Anything New" and "I want I want".

One sound band from my point of view is completely the contrary description for the tracks on Idealism. Each track is full with unknown creativity in electronic music. But not in way that you feel to choke on. It is round it is well-balanced. It doesn't sound like out of a 2nd world war bunker, it has air.

"If Franz Ferdinand made rock music that girls could dance to, then Digitalism makes electronic music that everyone can rock out to."

They are a new real Zdarlight in the sky, not a hyped up falling star.

3.0 out of 5 stars Kick-heavy squelchy electro-house - but not enough variety, 8 Jun 2007
By Mr. Stuart Bruce "DonQuibeats" (Bristol, UK) - See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
This is kick-heavy squelchy electro-house. Digitalism's filthy and relentless basslines are getting them a lot of praise, and here is their first full album.

What Digitalism do, riding on the wave of popularity for electro-house that has been growing latley, they do really well. Tracks like "Idealistic" are excellent.

Unfortunately, the album shows that Digitalism are a bit of a one-sound band, and too many of the tracks sound extremely similar to the big remixes that they've done, or their hits such as "Zdarlight". There isn't enough depth or variety on this album to turn it into a classic. If you love some of their remix work then you'll enjoy this album on first listen but I don't think it's an album you'll be going back to over and over for years to come.

Think of them as a younger Prodigy/Chemical Brothers. They mix the best elements of dance and rock - definitely music that grabs you and makes you dance!
