Johnny Vegas stars in his signature role as Moz, the ex-hash dealer. After travelling around the world, Moz and ditzy girlfriend Jenny return to Manchester. But everything is not as they left it… Elsewhere, Psycho Paul and Cartoon Head take an ill prepared foray in to the world of Black market organ trading. Meanwhile, Moz falls under the influence of neighbour Tilly (Jeaneane Garofalo – 24, West Wing) However, his problems really kick off when Roger Muchmore turns up. He’s the man whose stolen passport Moz used to flee Britain. Now he wants it back. And Muchmore is not someone you want to mess with… With guest appearances from Sean Lock, Barry Adamson, Mark Radcliffe and Graham fellows. Ideal is one of modern TV’s most unique and irreplaceable shows.

We have just finished series six of this brilliant comedy series. When we started with series one some months ago our first reaction was "what the...". My wife gave up but my teenage son and me kept on looking. Slowly the whole series grew on us and like I suspect a lot of other viewers you came to realize that Moz is actually the only sane person in the series and a very likable guy. Now six series later he has become our hero and actually I would not say no to have him as a friend! The series has not lost any of it's initial appeal and it is still a true joy to sit down with Moz and his crew. As soon as the last episode was over my son asked; "Dad have you bought season seven?" Sadly it has not been produced yet but as soon as it is I will buy it!

Been a fan of ideal since the start! (and carrying on from my previous review of series 5), I would like to say that my prayers were answered with this one!
Unlike serie 5 which did seemed rushed (only being 6 eps long), series 6 makes ideal a real contestant for being the funniest programe on TV these days (Alongside peepshow - as that is WORLD CLASS)!!!! Mr. Vegas is at his VERY best when playing moz! and Graham Duff is an oustanding script writer. I adore every single character thats brought in and out of Ideal and id be very sad to see any get killed off or taken away from the series (got to mention steve's death :(!!!). Psycho Paul (ppppsssychooo paaauuulllll!) and Cartoon Head (CH) are a MUST for any ideal series - SUPERB characters!!!! -I thought sean lock's special guest apperance (as a women) was side splittingly funny in this series!

- Whenever one episode finishes ...I WANT THE NEXT ONE! - There has got to be a series 7, as it was left open at the end of 6! Id LOVE for this to carry on for a few more series as it hasnt got stale!!! - i clap my hands to everyone involved in this superb show!

iDEAL - is a fantastic comedy show - id recommend it to anyone (but id advise to start from series 1 - as there have been wayyyy to many plot lines! lol)

I'm definitely a fan of this show. The first 5 years of Ideal have, I think, provided hilarious viewing. Hilarious but not simplistic. But I don't think season 6 quite manages the previous successful blend of character and plot. In part this is because season 5 provided a pretty conclusive end to the series, so season 6 is stuck with the task of resolving a previous 5 year narrative arc ... this is never a good idea for a show that hasn't taken this approach from the outset ... the first episode is not great. The lookalike storyline, that will catalyse a major event, is clumsy (to put it kindly). This is a real shame. Perhaps it would have been better to frame the incident in flashbacks across all the episodes, rather than start with some lame prosphetics and a rather unconvincing accent.

Ideal, in its sixth year, is tethered to a lot of backstory. This doesn't make for entirely successful episodes, as characters are forced into plots rather than previously, where plot was definitely character driven.

But where Ideal still works it works incredibly successfully. The dialogue remains pretty much at the top of comedic writing (at least relative to Ideal's contemporaries) and new narrative developments aren't hampered by the weight of all that backstory, so are free to evolve in surprising, entertaining ways.

I am not entirely sure there's any way all this baggage can be fixed. The obvious place to get this sorted was right at the beginning of this season. Instead the writer chose to go the opposite way ...
