Book Description

1 April 2010 1592535976 978-1592535972

Great design is something that makes you pause and think. That’s because there is a pure concept behind that design. Without a strong concept, design is merely an arrangement of elements within the parameters of a given format, resulting in design that is purely decorative. Void of the inspiration that makes design transcendent, the audience is left disengaged and intellectually/emotionally indifferent. Stanley Hainsworth, a designer who is known for design built on strong concepts, takes readers on an unprecedented visual journey through the minds of today’s best design thinkers via interviews and project case studies, exploring and revealing the sources of the concepts behind the projects. This book is a visual and informational feast.

5.0 out of 5 stars Insta-Idea 4 May 2010
By Glen Nelson - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Reading this new book is like swallowing a vitamin for creativity. The author's premise that designers need to be engaged in the world around them instead of endlessly recycling work from each other is all too true. I really liked seeing how an idea is developed from a random thought into a huge product or campaign. Kudos to all the designers and artists in this volume. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspirational 9 May 2010

Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Full of thought provoking examples of designs and designers that challenge convention. Not surprising given how the author is the celebrated designer of Starbucks / Lego / Nike fame.

5.0 out of 5 stars A peak into the creative process + a great gift book 9 May 2010
By erica_b - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I bought this book because I am a left-brained marketer, who works with lots of amazing right-brained creatives. I bought this book because of the sneak peak it provides into great creative process, which I constantly aspire to understand. This is not only staying on my desk as a reference guide and source of inspiration but is also a great gift for my cool friends who I never know how to shop for.
