I've had the box up and running for two days now and now I've got it working it's ok. However, it proved to be a nightmare to get working and the reasons for that were simply that the supplied cable it came with was faulty. Doesn't work with my other USB3.0 devices. As soon as i replaced that it works fine.

The fan is a little noisy however, and offers no means of adjusting the speed. Icybox fans are noisy period. I'll be replacing that at some point.

*UPDATE*
This unit now fails after around 12 hours of being connected to the PC (via a USB 3 hub or direct). The only way to solve this is to power it off and back up again. Which isn't practical when I'm not around. Waiting for Amazon to comment on it. But as a result my rating has dropped from 4 stars to 2!

The box looks very good but it won't work with the 2 SATA III drives I purchased for it. Looking through the manual it only supports SATA I and II but this information doesn't seem to be available anywhere on the internet so just bear that in mind.
In the process of sending drives back and buying new ones. Hopefully it will work with SATA II drives.

I installed two 1TB drives and set the dip switches to the setting for RAID 1, pressed the little button above them, but my PC was still seeing them as two drives. Next step, tried every combination of the dip switches all had the same effect. Then decided to set it as per the manual for RAID 1 and I pressed the little button this time with the drives switched on. Bingo! That did the job, Windows 7 asked me to format the drive, which was now showing as a single drive and the two lights on the unit were both on. I formatted "it" or "them" to NTFS using Disk Management, which took about 10 seconds.
I started copying around 750 GB of photographs from another USB 3 external drive to this one, both connected directly to my PC's USB 3 terminals, I was a little disappointed at the transfer rate which was only around 50MB/s compared to around 30MB/s when using my USB 2 drives. I am using mostly Western Digital drives, but inside this enclosure I have one WD and one Hitachi drive.
Because I was concerned about the speeds I dug deeper and found a good article that explains USB 3 in more detail.

One reviewer here had said that they found the dip switches were not as stated in the manual or the little picture on the back of the enclosure, my version is exactly as shown, so I can only assume that there are maybe quality control problems with some of these devices.

I wish the USB 3 cable was longer, but longer cables are relatively cheap, I purchased this one: USB 3.0 SuperSpeed A Male to B Male Shielded Cable Blue - 2 Metres .
I also wish that the enclosure supported SATA 3 drives as I have a few of them, but then it would probably be a lot more expensive.

To sum up, it's good value for money, does the job it's intended for but could be a little better hence 4 stars.

It has to be said this is quite an attractive little box; it's as compact as could be expected for an enclosure that supports two hard drives, with a fine mesh front panel covering three operating LEDs (a power light and an activity light for each drive), and with a nice matte black finish it doesn't collect fingerprint smudges to the extent of other gloss-finished enclosures. The rubber feet are also remarkably sturdy. Noise seems to be kept to a minimum, although this of course depends to some extent on the quality of the drives you'll be using.

Connecting the hard drives is an absolute breeze, particularly compared to some previous HDD enclosures with which I've wrestled long into the night. A flick of the "padlock" switch loosens the front panel, which slides off with little effort. Attaching the SATA devices is almost suspiciously easy; I had to disengage the first hard drive on a couple of occasions just to make sure that the connection was actually secure, but indeed it was. Slide the panel back into place and flick the locking switch and you're ready to go. I've used this so far with drives by Maxtor, Samsung and WD, and there have been no hardware issues at all. Flicking between RAID 0, 1 and JBOD ("just a bunch of disks") modes is easily accomplished, and I'm using the latter with no problems, with a 250 GB and 2 TB drive.

I can't comment on the USB 3.0 support, but the speeds I've obtained when connected to my Dell laptop were between 60 and 70 Mb per second, which isn't too shabby. On the other hand, transferring data from one of the contained drives to the other resulted in some disappointingly low speeds, with a transfer of video files resulting in a paltry 2-3 Mb per second. Still, while this is enough to prevent me from doling out five stars, this issue can likely be circumvented by pre-planning your data management and the quality of its remaining facets is undeniable.

Had it all set up and working. After one week it stopped recognising one of the disks. Spent the remaining week spending more time fixing the thing than using it. Would fix it before bed and when I got home from work it would no longer work.

BUY AT YOUR OWN PERIL

Thank goodness it was supplied through Amazon and they happily accepted the return of this piece of junk.
