Icons of Horror: Hammer Films (REGION 1) (NTSC)
Hammer added another 'classic' monster with Terence Fisher's THE GORGON (1964). Filled with chilling menace, the film is set in the Transylvanian village of Vandorf, terrorized by a series of killings in which the victims have turned to STONE. The Gorgon, Magaera, is found in the nearby ruins of the Castle Borski, but the discoverer is himself turned to stone, having just time to summon help in the form of his son and his son's tutor, Professor Meinster ( Christopher Lee, in a fine set of whiskers and playing for once, the avenger )! Eventually the Gorgon, is found to be in possession of the beautiful Carla Hoffman (Barbara Shelly) assistant and ex-patient of the sinister Professor Namaroff ( Peter Cushing ). Roy Ashton's make-up for the Gorgon, haloed with a hissing, striking frieze of serpents, makes Megaera, a true and unique female monster

i had recently bought the "icons of adventure" set from sony which had commentaries for all four films plus other extras ,so when i heard that they were releasing this set i was really looking forward to see what extas there was going to be so i was very disappointed to see only trailers especially as these are more famous and better films.The films are "the gorgon","scream of fear",curse of the mummys tomb" and "the two faces of dr jekyll",all 4/5 and make an excellent set.Pity about the extras.

This is another superb collection from Sony of some of Hammers best films. The 1960's were the golden age for Hammer Films. They released all kinds of films, check out their 'Icons Of Adventure' set, also from Sony!

This set contains four of their classic horror films released by Columbia pictures. The 'Gorgon' is the stand out film for me, however, every film in this set is a classic...Excellent!!!
