Product Description

Cornwall has a unique culture, heritage, beauty and atmosphere. Its character is defined to a large extent by the places, people, natural features and buildings that typify and represent the best of the county. In words and photographs, this book portrays those iconic locations that exemplify Cornwall - places that fascinate, intrigue and inspire. They range from ancient castles and defences, through nineteenth-century tin mines and bridges, to harbours, gardens, churches, and some of Britain's most spectacular moorland and coast.

I was a little disappointed when I received this book. The cover is glossy laminate on a rather uneven board and looks like something from the 1960s. However, it took little time for me to dispel the disappointment and enjoy the content. Great photos with succinct words help showcase the best of Cornwall. Of course, we all have our own ideas about the 'best' of any thing; your list is unlikely to be the same as mine, and both ours will probably differ slightly from this book, but overall it has captured those great sights and places that so characterise this county. For me it really was one of those hard to put down books as, you are always drawn to the next section. The icons are listed alphabetically which, at first seems a bit odd, but is actually quite logical; this is not a tourist guide as such so you don't need to have things listed by geographical area.

So, a great read, and very pretty to look at. Much like Cornwall itself.
