One word: WOW ! This is the follow up album to last years ICON and from the first track it grabs you with it's very infectious harmonies and never lets go. Wetton & Downes hit just the right balance with ballads and rockers. I thought the opener (Die Is Cast) was magnificent and then a sucker punch - track 2 (Finger on the Trigger) is absolutely awesome. Other standouts are The Hanging Tree , To Catch a Thief , Whirlpool and Rubicon. Well worth forking out the cash for this one - it's a keeper.

I have run out of superlatives for this second effort from John Wetton and Geoff Downes who are effectively the nucleus behind the original line-up of the band Asia. This second installment of 'Icon' is fantastic and the crime is that it will no doubt be totally ignored by the record buying public. Here's a track by track rundown :-

1) The die is cast - slow intro bursts into an uptempo burst of energy.

2) Finger on the trigger - Another uptempo track maintaining the pace of the opening track.

3) Reflections (of my life) - Slower number, great harmonies.

4) To catch a thief - One of the standout tracks - a duet between John and guest female vocalist Anneke Van Giersbergen - great tune.

5) Tears of joy - Stripped down but featuring violin playing from young prodigy Katie Jacoby. Very soothing.

6) Shannon - Nice song, not the strongest on the album but grows with repeated listening (as does the whole album).

7) The Hanging tree - Storming melody.

8) The Glory of winning - an epic sound harking back to those early Asia albums.

9) Whirlpool - Serves as a tasty precursor to what follows.....

10) Rubicon - ...which is the magnificent title track with a storming piledriver of a chorus. Just when you think it's finished it peters out and you think it's finishing but then strikes up for another round of glory.

Five stars without doubt.

As a died-in-the-wool Asia fan this is a 'coming of age' album for Wetton and Downes.Obviously influenced by real events in their lives during their 'mid-life crises' they've been inspired to produce this brilliantly crafted masterpiece.I just can't put it down.'To Catch a Thief is probably the best love song ever penned - both lyrically and vocally a true ' Masterpiece'.'The Glory of Winning is a true 'Asiatic' humdinger of a song and the title track Rubicon (the point of no Return) just makes you want to take on the World head-on. As John says 'Carpe Diem' (Seize the moment) and basically 'Just Do It'!
