About the Author
Alan Holyoak is a marine biologist and university professor. He earned BS and MS degrees in Zoology with an emphasis in aquatic biology from BYU-Provo. He then earned a PhD in Biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz. He has taught full-time at the university level for over 20 years. Alan is currently a member of the Biology Faculty at BYU-Idaho where he teaches ichthyology, marine biology, invertebrate zoology, limnology, and a course on climate change. During his career he has also taught or carried out research at The Friday Harbor Marine Laboratories of the University of Washington, The University of Hawaii, The Long Marine Laboratory of UC Santa Cruz, Hopkins Marine Biological Station of Stanford University, and The Oregon Institute of Marine Biology of the University of Oregon. Alan and his wife Kathrine have four children.
