My husband and I spent 4 days driving the south of Iceland in August 2007 and this book was great. The maps were spot on and the recommendations were spot on. We particularly loved the lobster soup at the Saegreifinn restuarant in Reykjavik and tried the whale meat kebab. Using this guide and the recommendations in it, we managed to go dog sledding, snow mobiling and whale watching. The only thing we missed was seeing Puffins, however they apparently left 2 weeks before we arrived, so we can't put that blame on the guide. Definitely the best guide out there for Iceland, highly recommended.

Good guide book 23 Aug 2010
Format:Paperback
I always buy a Loney Planet before going to new places and this one didn't disappoint. Really useful, we used it to plan our trip before going away and then it was always in the bag when we got there so that we could reference it whenever we needed to. If you're going on a short break to Iceland then I'd recommend this book.

Definitely buy this book if you are looking for useful information as opposed to pretty pictures - this book has it all, example - hotel information, bus routes, sightseeing trips, eating, language etc, etc, etc. A good book to buy to go with this one is Insight Guides - Iceland. This one has the pictures as well as information. If you are only buying one book I'd go for the Insight Guide.
