Product Description

Product Description

A powerful and future-proof Freeview HD receiver that handles hi-def from both DVB-T2 broadcasts and DivX HD files could be hard to resist for many after pin-sharp World Cup action, but the T2200 will keep on giving.

Product Description

The Icecrypt T2200 is a great way to get stunning pictures from Freeview and Freeview HD. The T2200 offers video output up to 1080p through HDMI, full 7-day EPG, playback of video, audio and image files and MHEG interactive television support. This is the perfect way to get the same high quality visuals from your television viewing as from your Blu-ray and DVD.

By reboot
This HD freeview receiver produces great pictures. I had a flashing video problem in 1080p when I first received but that was cured with a firmware upgrade that was simple to do.
I'm really pleased with the day to day operational functions. The Media player functions well in fact it seems to play all of my Avi collection including HD MKV's via its USB is a bonus.
I would highly recommend this simple to use receiver.

Since this box is only around £60 and with a firmware upgrade is able to record to a usb stick/hard drive. What you essentially get is a no frills HD PVR for less than half the price of the competition.

The good:
Record functionality after beta firmware update. You can also do scheduled recording.
Comes out of standby to record and then goes back to standy when finished
No bright annoying "lights up the room" power light
Excellent HD picture quality in 720p/1080i/1080p
Decent remote
Sound quality
On screen menus and EPG are cleanly presented and easy to understand
Card slot for subscription TV
Only uses 1 watt in passive standby
Playback of xvid/divx/mp4/mkv from USB

The bad:
Experienced the odd freeze up until I disabled "Interactive Services" from the settings menu
EPG is a little slow and clunky at times
Boot from standby takes about 10 to 15 secs
No series linking in PVR functionality
Estimated space left for recording is wrong

The bad are all just tiny niggles when compared to how good this box is. I'd recommend this as the choice for HD freeview on a budget.

Amazon Verified Purchase
I bought this box just to get the HD channels as my TV has a normal freeview built in. This unit is well made and easy to install and the HD channels look very nice. The EPG is easy to use and works quickly, no drag like on some cheaper boxes. The 'Favourites' setup is particularly nice with pre-allocated groups such as News and Sport but you can also add your own groups. The remote control is fine, a little shiny for my liking but seems good quality and comes with batteries. There is also an HDMI cable included although it doesn't seem best quality. I purchased Duronics cables Duronic Black White 2010D/2 High Speed 2 Metre HDMI Cable - White 2M HDMI to HDMI Heads they are cheap but excellent quality.

The other features I find useful are the automatic power down which switches the unit off after no activity for 3 hours and setting timer events to watch a specific program by pressing the OK button when the program is highlighted in the EPG.

Overpriced, freezes.
The HD channels are great but your basically paying an extra £50 or so for 4 HD channels. I'd opt for a standard, good quality Freeview box. Read more
