Icebreaker products really are top knotch and I've been wearing my glove liners inside sheepskin gloves all through the recent bitterly cold snap. The liners are very thin, which makes you think at first that they can't possibly do much, but in fact they are really good at retaining / reflecting heat. I wear them on their own, when I know my hands aren't in danger of getting wet, or use them as liners for thick gloves on really nippy days.
At first I was a little concerned that the wool would be itchy, but this simply isn't the case. They are as comfortable next to the skin as cotton, but ten times warmer!
Icebreakers are different to many other thermal garments because they are designed to be used in active sports, and so the wool fabric breathes naturally. This means they stay very toasty but don't smell -- at all -- not even after weeks of being worn regularly. And they are fully machine washable (just don't tumble dry).
Icebreakers do have a very sporty image but I use mine in every day life at the moment. They are really practical, warm and comfortable, and you don't need to be walking to the South Pole to get plenty of benefit from them. There are other much cheaper thermal brands out there, but Icebreakers seem to be me to far superior. I suspect mine will last for years.
The glove liners do come up quite small, so although they are best when snug you may need to order a generous size when buying...

Disappointed! 8 Jan 2010
Colour Name:Black|Size Name:Large
The gloves are a very odd shape. I bought them for my son in law to put under his motorbike gloves. Although they say that they are Large.... I, with, small/medium hands found the fingers FAR too short. So they were rendered useless. I am surprised at Icebreaker because I have other items of theirs and have always rated them very highly. I dread to think what how short the fingers are in their Small golves!!!. Suffice to say that I was bitterly disappointed.

I've had difficulty for years trying to get a decent pair of gloves that aren't too bulky, keep my hands warm and allow me to use my fingers for my phone & mp3 player without dropping everything due to bulk and lack of movement. Plus I have very narrow hands, long fingers but I'm very slim so not a lot of XS sizes in good makes.
I purchased a pair of Mountain Equipment gloves which have silicone pads on the hands and fingers, which along with using crutches, turns out they were very comfortable, allowed a great deal of movement but weren't overly warm.
Poor blood circulation has always been a bit of a problem for me so I purchased a pair of ski gloves and although they kept my hands very warm and snug - very comfy also - as you'd expect from ski gloves there wasn't a great range in movement or flexibility for me.
Having visited an outdoor store, it was recommended to me to purchase a pair of liner gloves in merino wool. They would keep me well insulated due to being merino wool, I'd have all the flexibility I required and with being a liner glove I could wear them underneath my fleece Mountain Equipment gloves. Although they're a S in size and just a little bit big for me (don't think Icebreaker has XS gloves, couldn't locate any anyway), underneath my other gloves it's heaven! I've got full range of movement, flexibility, excellent grip for my crutches and better than anything they keep my fingers lovely and toasty.

In conclusion I would highly recommend these liner gloves, you won't be disappointed!
