THE ROAD TO SUCCESS CAN BE DEADLY.

In the second season of IRT Deadliest Roads, Lisa, Hugh and Rick, three of the toughest North American truckers, are driven to extremes in one of the world s most unforgiving environments: the Andes.

As they cross borders to navigate the highways of South America, this fearless trio encounters some of the deadliest roads in history.

Everything they ve learned in more than 40 years of combined experience is tested in nerve-rattling conditions they ve never seen before.

Whether it s driving along 1,000-foot cliffs or dodging avalanches, skill and ingenuity go full-throttle.

I own all of the IRT series and the two sets "Deadliest roads" & the Andes. They are all great to watch and one has to bow and hat off to the Drivers that really do put their lives on the line to run these roads. Graphics diplicte very often the "What could happen" this is fantastic info because we do not want to see it really happen, were somebody really has to loose their life showing what could happen if! However!! True critic has two sides to be looked at.
Point 1. I personnaly think that the load mouthed bust your butt attitudes of spme of the drivers as they make their appearence for the first time is cheap show to get you inicially glued to the screen to see how the big mouth fairs under pressure.
Point 2. To keep their viewers glued to the screen biting their nails as to how it continues the Americans think it is funny to leave their addiance on a cliff hanger at any moment to cut into advertising!!! Which is always a small bump in the road, the whole thing highlights of coarse with an upwards crescendo of violins topping off the scene.
Point 3. One of two things here, are at power. a. Without offence ment here the Americans have a very short memory, which I do not think is the case or b. the production companies like to WAIST 5 to 10 minuits of every episode by repeating the last 30 secs of episode up to where the advertising started. Of course one does not have to see the adverts they have been removed. But the cliffhanger build up then the 30 sec repeat of avents leading up to, are for the european market totally and absolutly NOT nessasary!!
Point 4. As each and every episode starts one gets a 5 minit run down on whats coming up in that particular episode. This has only one object to it!!

This is one of my favourite documentary series of all time and RT Deadliest Roads has some real 'edge of the seat' moments. However, upon watching the DVDs, I was really annoyed and disappointed to see that uses of natural fowl language have been bleeped out. This didn't happen when the show aired on the History Channel (UK) after 9pm - it was shown in it's original beauty with unaltered audio from the drivers. I can understand the censoring of language when the episodes air on TV before 9pm but it never crossed my mind that the DVDs would also be censored in this way A totally bad call.

Its a real shame that they have done this because the use of swearing is about context. The drivers use bad language because they are in really stressful situations and it portrays tension in the best possible way. Censoring language ruins the atmosphere and real comedy moments are ruined with the use of constant bleeping so we don't get to hear most parts of stressful outbursts. Not all bad language is offensive if the context is justified and this is one series where it is actually appropriate.

Censoring language is catering for a minority audience that probably wouldn't watch the DVDs anyway. I am sure most of the audience of IRT are adults anyway.

Perhaps the DVDs should have had two audio tracks so that the PC Brigade can watch the show with the constant bleeps so that they are not offended; not that they would actually watch this kind of thing anyway.

I feel that an otherwise amazing TV series has been ruined hence only the three stars.

The scenes were amazing...I loved it. It makes you appreciate how the driving culture is different in other parts of the world.
