Product Description

Product Description

In the desolate regions of Chile, a remarkable discovery has been made. It is a massive meteorite whose existence will change science and mankind forever. An expedition sets out to recover it, but what should be a straightforward undertaking becomes dangerous, and the bizarre artefact may not be what it seems. When a raging storm drives the tanker beyond the dangerous Antarctic latitude known as the Ice Limit, superstition, egos, and the unknown clash in a stunning finale that will risk the lives of everyone on board.

4.0 out of 5 stars Im Hooked, 1 Jun 2006

This was the first of Preston & Child's books i read and i loved it! I am now completely sold on their books and have a stack of them to read. The story just completely engrosses you and their writing completely draws you into the plot and the lives of the characters.

Im now reading Riptide and this one is even better! Thats the only reason i gave The Ice Limit 4 stars...because i know Riptide will receive the full 5!

If you like books full of mystery and intrigue you will love it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Crying out to be made into a movie, 8 Feb 2006
By Winning Form Mr Lips (Durban North, Kwazulu-Natal South Africa) - See all my reviews

This review is from: The Ice Limit (Hardcover)
This is the first book by these authors that I have read, but it certainly won't be the last. Okay, if you're looking for serious literature, stay away. But, if you're after a rattling good adventure yarn, this is for you. It may be no more than an "airport movel", but it is one of those books begging to be made into a Hollywood blockbuster.

The characters are quite well developed for a book of this kind, but what really grips the attention is their adventures in the stormswept areas of Cape Horn and beyond. The only reason I didn't give the book five stars is its very tame ending. One does indeed suspect that a sequel could be in the works, because the reader is left dangling a bit, but getting to the final page is a great fun ride for all that.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic reading, 3 Jul 2002
By RainKing (Madrid, Spain) - See all my reviews
I chose this book at random because I felt the story sounded interesting and it made me a fan of Child and Preston right away. The characters are very well developed and the balance between science and the story itself makes it a great reading with a thrilling end. My sleeping pattern was badly affected, as I couldn't stop reading.

Not better then Relic but still a good story bringing to sea and to the south. I was still guessing who is the main hero; guess there is none. Read more
