Ian Yates was born in Newport, South Wales. At 17 he moved away from his home town and joined the Royal Air Force as an electronics technician. For the next 23 years he moved around the UK and had various detachments to overseas locations including; Iraq, The Falkland Islands, UAE, Italy, Finland, a short detachment to Afghanistan and postings to many other areas of the world in support of the Royal Air Force. At the age of 40 he left with the rank of Sergeant and moved to the Greek island of Crete with his wife, Alison.
His first novel, 'One Piece At A Time' was a Top Ten Amazon bestseller in its genre. It follows the story of DCI Peter Carter who is head of the Homicide and Serious Crimes Unit of the London Metropolitan Police Force.
The second novel, 'One Day At A Time' continues in the same, fast paced vein and was published in June 2014.
He is currently working on a third book in the series whilst also pursuing a historical fiction novel of the Roman invasion of Crete.
