There's some confusion about the batteries, the box says it's AAAs, but it's actually AA batteries. Works with my rechargeable 1.2V batteries as well. Sound is ok, fairly loud but a bit tinny as is to be expected from speakers that size and price. Good deal for the money.

A brilliant little speaker for the size/price/portability/ease of use etc. and I can highly recommend it. My partner was given one of these as a gift a couple of years ago now (a more sedate beige coloured version!) and we've been fighting over it, on and off, ever since. Now, that's not because of the sound quality - let's face it, it's not good quality hi-fi, bose or ipod docking station quality - but it's just so useful. The cube is very light, doesn't need to run off a plug in power supply (like so many portable speakers do), can run either off AA batteries or from a USB lead plugged into a laptop, it's extremely portable and because of its price it's great for taking anywhere with your mp3 player - holidays, beach, hotel rooms, and I use mine at work to listen to music running off itunes and spotify on my laptop. It's best at lower volumes, i.e. for personal listening, but will give a reasonable volume if you want it to. Not just useful for music, but also for watching dvd's on your laptop, especially if you find ear phones a bit of an irritation for any length of time. At less than a fiver you can't go wrong - my advice is to buy one and try it, I'm sure you'll find it useful! One word of warning: the colour!!! The pink one is VERY pink and girly!

This box, although battery powered, has been a big hit with our girl. It packs enough of a punch to fill a room, but obviously you're not going to get Bang & Olufsen quality for about a fiver. I'm going to buy another one to put in our garage for when we're exercising on the treadmill. You can't go wrong at this price.

Great little design

Small is Great!

IXOS Speaker Cube
