About the Author
Professor Richard Holmes is author of a string of bestsellers, most recently Tommy: The British Soldier on the Western Front (HarperCollins 2004). He also wrote the top 10 bestsellers Wellington: The Iron Duke and, most recently, The Napoleonic Wars Experience (Carlton Books, 2006). He has also written the Imperial War Museum's First and Second World War in Photographs for Carlton Books in 2001 and 2000. Richard is General Editor of the Oxford Companion to Military History and has presented seven documentary series for the BBC.
