This is a must have whether you are at work or at university.. Very easy to use with clear scans all the time, if you have an iPad you can download an app called Readiris which works with this but you will also need the Apple camera connection kit (please just get the Apple one if you don't want a headache).
Not only do you receive the scanner you get a 2Gb SD card, computer software plus a hand carry case. It is handy when in the library scanning through books and you just need certain pages of information and don't want the whole book.

Bought because I was told by a friends it works really well and has the added advantage of being light and portable. Maybe I haven't learnt how to use it properly yet, but I don't find the quality of the scanning that good. I'm used to the excellent quality of my Epson scanner and this one just doesn't compare. Often the picture is all distorted and difficult to read and the scanning ha to be repeated again and again to get a decent reproduction. I find the software given with it confusing and difficult to use, I still have to understand how it works and what benefit is to my scanning. With what I know now I don't think I would have bought it.

Borrowed a friends portable scanner to scan A4 pages into my computer whilst away from home. His portable scanner was connected by USB directly to a computer and pages were fed through the rollers. I decided to purchase one for myself and while looking at the IRIS models I found the Book 2 Scanner which works as a stand alone scanner and I decided it would give options to scan bigger than A4 pages without having to bring them to the computer. Once set up the only 2 things to consider are the scanning speed and keeping the scanner at right angles to the writing. The speed was never a problem, there is an error light to indicate moving too fast, but it took several attempts at the beginning to keep the scanner position good as I moved it down the page. Once I had this down to a comfortable working position I was constantly getting useable scans when transferred to my laptop. I can say I am very happy with this unit.
