You get 26 different percussion sounds for all kinds of musical styles. Select your sound and then play along to one of the 49 rhythm patterns included to help you learn standard rhythm patterns, choose from 8 Beat, 6/8 Beat, 16 Beat, Dance, Jazz, Latin, Country, March & Waltz & Sound Effects patterns.
Built-in learning features include a follow-the-lights exercise, which make it easy to learn – even if you’ve never played before. Follow the lights on the pads and you’ll be making beats in no time. When you are feeling more confident just select your kit and freestyle!
Drumsticks are included, so you’ll be ready to rock out of the box.
You can rock out loud with the built-in speaker system or plug in headphones and practice quietly. The 1/8” (3.5mm) headphone output is compatible with most headphones. If you want you can connect to a larger speaker via the headphone output.
Discover Drums can be powered by the included A/C power adapter or by batteries for portability.

This seems to be great. I was looking for an electronic drumkit for my son's birthday, as he's always wanted to learn to play the drums, and felt these types of drumkits could be a good starting point. When i came across this one from ION, and saw it has a built in learning feature, as well as the different musical styles and patterns, i thought it seemed a good buy. I would recommend, and with the headphone option it does make life quieter, especially if your child plays it as much as mine does!

What a huge disappointment. I was really looking forward to my 5 year old son enjoying playing the drums but even with the volume turned up to max the drum sounds are weak. The accompaning music in the learning mode completely drowns the drum noises and it makes more noise from the strikes to the plastic drums than the different electronic drum sounds. Much more effective to use old biscuit tins... Rubbish. If you were thinking of using it to send messages to african neighbours forget it....

I purchased the ION electronic drums for my 9 year old son. He loves to play the drums and I wanted something that would help him learned how to play various types of beats. The drums are very easy to use. You can slow down or speed up the beats. He absolutely love these drums. As a parent I love this gift because it's one of the few toys he received that requires no involvement from me.

My nephew wanted some drums for christmas. he is 12 so i thought this would be nice to get for him. Well he likes it but if i had to purchase it over again I probably wouldn't. Although it is for a little kid the sounds seems to be pretty weak in the speakers.. It'll get him by next time i will probably spend more money on a drum pad or just get the drums altogether. But for a little kid maybe 5 or 6 this wouldn't be bad.
