5.0 out of 5 stars Great piece of kit 15 Dec 2008
I bought this kit hoping to recover data from 3 hard drives extracted from my broken PC and a laptop (2.5" and 3.5" IDE drives, sizes from 80GB to 250GB). I was not sure what to expect as for some other similar products on Amazon reviewers complained of power supply problems and hard drive incompatibility.

I am very pleased to conclude that within minutes of receiving the kit, I've managed to connect all 3 hard drives (one at the time!) without any problems and then managed to easily copy all data onto my Windows XP laptop. There was no driver to install for XP, I've just wired the hard drive to the right end of the connector (and for the 3.5" HD also connected the power supply) and then just plugged in the USB end of the cable in my laptop's USB connector. The hard drive got automatically detected and appeared on the list of my laptop's disks with all its windows partitions just as any other internal drive would. When copying large directories, subjective data transfer speed felt very fast, just as if I was using the internal hard drive. This is probably due to USB 2.0.

Overall a great product for recovering data from hard drives when your PC, laptop or external hard drive box dies. Also great supplier, good communication, rapid delivery, no complains, a very happy customer!

4.0 out of 5 stars good kit 11 Mar 2009
Extremely handy piece of kit at an affordable price. Easily transferring old drives to new PC's and enabling seemless viewing of old drives before transfer. Also works for notebook/laptop drives.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hard drive to usb cable 26 Oct 2009

Does exactrly what it says it does - and with little difficulty in setting up. The instructions need careful reading to select the correct configuration for particular drives, but when sorted out, it works just like another drive in the system.
Excellent piece of kit and very good value.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works Perfectly on Vista 1 Oct 2009
Verified Purchase
got this to backup my Sky+ hard drive (and put a bigger one in using the copy+ program) it works perfectly, one thing i noticed is that it installs drivers when the usb is plugged in and if you plug in a hard disk it wont be detected, removing and reinserting the usb plug has drivers install again and then the drive shows up.

i had no trouble getting it to work in vista 64bit and delivery from nexons was quick.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple and it works 8 Sep 2009
Have not tried other kits so cannot compare but this works like a dream - easy connection, no drivers required and I would say it is very good value.

Like other reviewers I got this kit to recover data from a 3.5 drive from a kaput PC and within a few minutes of connecting was able to read the drive. I have now recovered all the 'valuable' photos and docs ( I will certainly back stuff up from now on).

I have also used it to read off a laptop drive which fails to boot - looking to tidy up that drive and hopefully make the laptop usable again.
