INXS hailed from the pubs of Australia, which is part of the reason the band never comfortably fit in with new wave. Even when they branched out into synth pop on their early recordings, they were underpinned by a hard, Stonesy beat and lead singer Michael Hutchence's Jagger-esque strut. Ultimately, these were the very things that made INXS into international superstars in the late ... Read more in Amazon's INXS Store

5.0 out of 5 stars What You Need ! 29 July 2011
Format:Audio CD
This bands music has been in need of a digital clean up for many years now and finally in 2011,it's been done. What's in the box?,I hear you asking. All ten of Inxs' studio albums recorded with Michael Hutchence from their quirky self titled debut, released in 1980 and only available in Australia until they hit the big time up to "Elegantly Wasted",released just months before Michael's untimely passing.

What extras are there? None. This box set is a straight album re-release.No bonus tracks,no special editions of the classic albums.I must admit to being a bit hesitant to purchase this set due to the lack of extra content. The first two albums,INXS and Underneath The Colours, were remastered in 2002 and compiled for Australia in the awesome double cd set "Stay Young 1979 -1982 (Deluxe) [Australian Import]".This collection is worth owning for any serious fan as it contains an entire cd of early live tracks,demos,b-sides and four 1992 re-recordings from the "Full Moon Dirty Hearts" session. These early albums sound much the same as they did in 2002 and that's not a bad thing. All good so far.

It was the lure of hearing my favourite albums,1982's "Shabooh Shoobah",1984's "The Swing" and the before the storm stomper that was 1985's "Listen Like Thieves",that led me to relenting and purchasing the box and I'm so glad I did. These three albums have not been touched since first being transferred to digital master for cd in the late 80's and were long overdue for a tweak. They sound amazing in this set and are almost worth the price of the box (which is much cheaper in my part of the world).

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly as the title suggests... 24 Jun 2012

Format:Audio CD
This is a straightforward release of all ten (10) studio albums that INXS recorded digitally remastered from the original recordings. Their first albums - the eponymous INXS, Underneath the Colours, Shabooh Shoobah, and The Swing are like a revelation when heard remastered. I was introduced to INXS by my brother-in-law who gave me their first album on CD as my very first CD ever, back when LPs were the norm, and both CDs and CD players were an expensive luxury. Hearing that album remastered today gave me shivers of joy!

This collection to my understanding was released in Australia, their home turf, and not widely released or available otherwise. For anyone who likes INXS's older stuff, and even their more recent studio albums, you can't go wrong with this awesome set. I had to go to Amazon UK to even find out what was contained in this set. Doing further price comparison, I found better prices elsewhere in Europe and ended up buying from Amazon Spain for around $7.00 USD per CD when it was all said and done, so a relative bargain.

This set is providing many hours of enjoyable listening. You won't go wrong by indulging in this set if you like INXS at all.
