5.0 out of 5 stars This book takes you to a magical space within yourself. 12 May 1999
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
I loved both books by this author. I couldn't put In Quest of the Pearl down! It touched me with the message of hope and faith and what hidden resources we have. Mamma Lila stirs the mind and insights happen. This book has changed my life. I want to hear more from this author. He has a wonderful way of presenting the mysteries of life with simplicity. I can't wait for his next book.

5.0 out of 5 stars An incredibly spiritual and life changing book 22 July 1998
By Officer Ed Lemon (selby@wavetech.net) - Published on Amazon.com
This is truly one of those books that will rock you to the foundation of your soul. In a beautifully descriptive fashion Syd Banks, a person who writes from wisdom and humility, guides the writer to the Pearl of Pearls that lies forgotten within themselves. Anyone looking for peace and contentment need only follow the gentle direction of the writer to "realize" happiness. From this gentle man has come a tremendously successful model of community empowerment and psychology known as Health Realization / Psychology of Mind. This model has already helped thousands of people overcome impossible odds to become happy and contented. Housing projects over run with crime that have utilized this model have realized tremendous success. (Miami, Oakland, L.A., and New York). This is the second book in a series, so purchase "Second Chance" when you order.

5.0 out of 5 stars An intriguing story that enriches the life of the reader 30 Jan 1999
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
In Quest of the Pearl is the sequel to an equally enjoyable book by Syd Banks, called Second Chance. Both books are set on the island of Maui, Hawaii. Through the eyes of the main character, Richard Sullivan, the reader gets an enchanting view of the beauty of Hawaii and its people. The author is a master at bringing to life Richard's adventures in a way that allows the reader to see their own reality from a fresher, more promising perspective. For those willing to truly hear what the author is saying in this book, there awaits a unique and precious opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of life and all the wonderful possibilities it holds.
5.0 out of 5 stars Love Sydney's Books 9 Oct 2013
By Morgine - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
Sydney Banks discovered some of the essential "TRUTHS" about life. We all know gravity exists, for example. One thing he shared with us, is that we live in the feeling of our thoughts. Our thoughts, not our experiences, are what define our moments. In this wonderful little book he visits the islands and discovers answers to some of his deepest questions with some of the wisdom shared by certain people there. He uses stories to share these simple truths.

You can have thousands of people watching a great game of football, perhaps the last game of the season. At the end, about half the people are jumping for joy and celebrating long into the might. Most of the other half are disappointed with their team, sad, frustrated and everything in between. Same game, different experiences. What we don't realize is we do this all day long.

When we begin to realize this, our life changes. We are not required to "do anything" different. I live with gravity without really thinking too much about it. I also know if I drop something it will fall. If I jump off a cliff I will fall. If you find yourself really sad or angry some day, stop and think. I am only living in the feeling of these thoughts. The thoughts are not real or tangible or solid. My personal beliefs and ideas, like the football game, are affecting my thoughts. Then you fall right back into balance again. Of course there is a lot more too!

I love Sydney's book and his Three Principles. Changed my life over night! Michael Neill who wrote the Inside Out Revolution (also a Great book) refers to him often and that is why I began reading his other books!
