Product Description

Dinosaurs Alive is a global adventure of science and discovery featuring the earliest dinosaurs of the Triassic Period to the monsters of the Cretaceous reincarnated life-sized for the giant IMAX ® screen. Audiences will journey with some of the world s preeminent paleontologists as they uncover evidence that the descendents of dinosaurs still walk (or fly) among us. From the exotic, trackless expanses and sand dunes of Mongolia s Gobi Desert to the dramatic sandstone buttes of New Mexico, the film will follow American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) paleontologists as they explore some of the greatest dinosaur finds in history. Through the magic of scientifically accurate computer-generated animation, these newly discovered creatures, and some familiar favorites, will come alive...in a big way! Features available include: 16X9 video version, 5.1 tracks in English, French, Spanish, German and others TBA. Full length making of shot in high definition, Dino facts, quiz, trailers and more.

Product Description

This program presents some of the more recent ideas about dinosaurs that are gaining acceptance while following paleontologists searching for fossils over the decades in the Gobi Desert and New Mexico.

1.0 out of 5 stars Ghost Movie 15 Nov 2010
Format:Blu-ray
Quite disappointed with this title I had eager anticipation for. On my Samsung LED 3D, ghosting is really bad and prevalent pretty much on every scene, that has any "depth". A contrast to the Grand Canyon adventure, which is marvellous. Give this one a miss. It will give you a head ache and a wallet ache. If I was Imax and Michael Douglas I would sue somebody!

1.0 out of 5 stars A total disaster ! Shameful conversion. 11 Nov 2010
Format:Blu-ray|Amazon Verified Purchase
WOW !

I cannot believe that this Bluray was released in this terrible state.

This product should never have been allowed to be released, it is that bad.

As a documentary it was never supposed to be very informative as the 3D spectacle was supposed to do the talking, much like all the other 3D IMAX films. So why would they release a film that has had such a bad 3D conversion done to it? Who knows ! They must have known that the 3D conversion had failed on this film so why release?

I have 7 3D Bluray films now and this is the first that has MAJOR problems. There are no scenes in the film that don't have depth issues, crosstalk, ghosting, glitching, convergence problems, shadow issues....the list is endless.

There are some scenes where I could remove my glasses and the picture on the screen looked the same (the museum shots particulary, which is a joke as they looked amazing on IMAX 3D) and some scenes where I had to remove the glasses because my eyes and brain were straining to make the 3D work and giving me a quite nauseous feeling, I would never had expected this after all the hours I have put in to watching 3D over the last few years.

I had high hopes for this Bluray as I saw it in London at the Science Museum and it looked awesome and left a memorable positive impression on me, please save your money and DON'T buy this, see it at an IMAX cinema instead.

If you MUST buy it I am selling my copy on a well known auction site right now, point taken?

1.0 out of 5 stars AVOID!!!!!!!!! 10 Jun 2011
Format:Blu-ray
If you are looking for a 'Walking with dinosaurs' type documentary, then do NOT buy this!!!
The whole feature only lasts 40 mins, which is comprised of approx' 32 min's 28 sec of the typical 'rent a bore' on-site digs with the teams, and only 7 min's 32 sec of cgi!!!
If you want my opinion, get the discovery channels 'Essentual dinosaur pack' which in my view, was worth it's weight in gold!!!
Like i said "AVOID!!!!!!!!!"

Format:Blu-ray|Amazon Verified Purchase
I've seen Grand Canyon and Under The Sea (both on 3D blu rays) and they left a descent impression - yes 3D telly is great! Then came this dinosaur stuff... hmm.. i can only agree with the rest of the reviews - it is plain awful / dont bother.
Wondering if if Deep Ocean is good...

2.0 out of 5 stars not good 9 Nov 2010
Format:Blu-ray
this is obviously a very early 3d movie and as such left us all feeling very dizzy, it's extremely hard to focus on the whole scene and therefore very dissapointing. but to be fair the service i got IE. delivery was top notch.

It only lasts 35 minutes, my daughter loved it though, thanks. Michael Douglas doing the narrating, would have been better having Barney narrating.
