5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderfull discovery 28 May 2002
Format:Audio CD
At first hearing, St-Thomas sounds like he is trying too hard to be another clone of Neil Young. But after a view listening sessions, you will learn to appreciate his own personality. It is the kind of record that makes you listen to it, no matter what conditions you are in. The lyrics are very simple, sometimes absurd, sometimes very recognisable, but always with a wink and a grin. Although the mood on the album is somewhat dark, St-Thomas and his own 49ers make you want to join their band and have a beer with them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Seldom Heard Alt-Country Classic 1 Nov 2008
Format:Audio CD
This 2001 release from St Thomas (aka Thomas Hansen) is probably the finest of his half a dozen releases before his tragic death at the age of 31 in 2007. Norwegian singer song-writer with distinct alt-country overtones and comparisons with Bonnie Prince Billy, Neil Young and Elliot Smith. Strangers out of Blue is a stand out song of loneliness but the whole cd gels with 12 heart rending songs. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars run to the store 28 Dec 2002
By jo van boxem - Published on Amazon.com

I just happened to download the song "strangers out of blue", and I was so impressed that i ran to the music store immediately. It was long ago that a song so caught me that I just wanted to hear it again and again. So yes, I bought the album for this one song, but it hasn't been out of my cdplayer since, and why couldn't I have discovered it earlier....
Yes, of course his voice resembles Neil Young, and at first the songs remind you of Harvest indeed. There are worse influences, and after listening to it once or twice and carefully, you will discover an original and authentic artist. This is breakable music, sad and yet funny. My album of the year, and I can't wait for him to perform in Belgium.
4.0 out of 5 stars Death Comes as the Last 20 Dec 2007

Thomas Hansen died recently due to complications with prescription drugs, so I read. This folkie offering is really nice, and it's sad that he has passed. Pick up a copy while you can, well worth repeat, melancholic listening. This CD is often referred to as 'confederate music,' because of the use of the banjo.
5.0 out of 5 stars St. Thomas - I'm Coming Home 5 May 2005
By Brent Carlson - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
St. Thomas' debut album is a must have. Sounding a bit like the Norwegian version of Neil Young, St. Thomas fuses folk, country and a bit of yodeling to produce a unique sound. This album may take a few listens to fully appreciate, but it will be well worthwhile.
5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Norwegian Folk Rock! 3 July 2004
By Feeling Rather Pink - Published on Amazon.com

St. Thomas is insane! This is by far one of the best cd's i've ever heard. Best songs on the album are: The Cool Song, Cornerman, Take a Dance with Me, and pretty much all the others. Bookstore is a little out there but still solid. Be sure to pick this one up!
3.0 out of 5 stars three and a half stars, really 23 July 2003
By R. Clayton - Published on Amazon.com

just got this. a mellow, melancholy record. very beautiful. its really good. comparisons to neil young are unavoidable, so there it is. in fact, the first song is really similar to "heart of gold" on any number of levels. youll like this if you like any of the palace stuff, neil young, centromatic, my morning jacket, early beck, etc. really good. id love to hear more from this guy.
