I'm ashamed to say that in spite of my advanced years I hadn't read this book although I have seen a film of it.
The difference between this and other Kindle books that I have got is the photographs which are of really good quality on the whole (the maps are a bit fuzzy). The subjects for the photographs seem to be chosen a bit at random though; often just picking up on a place or person named in the text where I would have found it more interesting to see images of the underwater life mentioned.

This is all probably new technology and I don't suppose that it will be long before Kindle books come in glorious technicolour - now there's something to look forward to!

20,000 Leagues is a good tale end the ideas kept flowing right until the end and still there was some mystery left. Quite a long book but even I didn't lose interest.

I paid for this version because of the Illustrations - big mistake. I didn't understand the implication of correctly choosing which translation to get. This would seem to be simply a reprint of the early Mercier translation and is very poorly done. The addition of the illustrations might have been worthwhile if they had been on-point with the story, but many seem to have been added just for the sake of adding illustrations.

Do yourself a favor and skip this edition and look for one of the Walters versions instead. They may not have any illustrations but are readable.
