Way too small a game. Sure there are about 20 missions but they take 10 minutes each and there is no variation at all in target positioning. Once you've done all the missions you can go and do them again in any of the aircraft, but that's the extent of the replay value.
Controls are overly simplistic - you can't roll inverted at all. You never land or take off and you can carry way too much ordnance. Despite this you can do the whole game with just the cannon, even shooting the ridiculously fast submarine!
For those looking for a flight sim this isn't it, for those after an arcade game then you may enjoy it.

a brilliant flying game of world war 2 with all sorts of planes and its for war lovers. and its got loads of levels about 30 missions over all i'd give it 85 out of a 100 a brilliant game

I played this game on the PS3 last year and was totally absorbed in the game. I bought this to go on holiday with, but didn't find the experience as satisfying. The problem was that the maneuverability of the plane could have been better and meant that enemy planes would get lost easily. Obviously there is only one analogue stick, but if they made on of the shoulder buttons change the square/triangle/circle/X buttons into a yoke and roll feature that would have made things a lot easier. That said, when you get the hang of flying in this game it becomes a satisfying shooter.
I did feel that there was not as much fun in the game as the PS3 version but battered through the game nonetheless. I would recommend this game as a decent flying shooter, but don't expect the sexy visuals of the PS3 version as this doesn't deliver on them.

Got this for xmas and I was a fan of IL 2 for pc. But this isn't by Maddox, they've obviously just licenced the brand and its pants. Read more
