5.0 out of 5 stars Best. Album. EVER. 21 Jan 2004
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
I can't remember how many times I've listened to this album. Possibly a million. And no album since 92 has ever had an greater impact on me than this one. This one not only got me into "real good music", but it made me think about a lot of things in my life. It literally covers everything, love, politics, life, and in most cases war and peace. No other group out there could've wrote songs about those things better. If you havn't heard this album yet, you should. It may sound a bit dated, as in early 90's material, but it's still simply brilliant. The whole album tells a story. It starts off as seemingly in-your-face with a lot of sarcasm and hypocrisy.. then gradually gets more and more serious, with an unbelievable climax of three songs which delve quite deeply but metaphorically into religious issues. It really is a moving mixture of heavy guitar, hard beats, lots of solos, with classical layered over the top, great lyrics, great singing.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE album everyone should own... 17 Nov 2000
Format:Audio CD
Extreme have been a firm favourite of mine since not long after their second album was released. This 3rd offering simply blew my perceptions into another dimension. It's that good. I play guitar and so extreme's Nuno Bettencourt is something of a hero - he can play that thang! But the key to this album is emotion. It has 3 sides, and they go from rock through ballad and into a crescendo of orchestral grandeur. Don't think that this is like Metallica's S&M album - it's not. Cupid's Dead is one of my favourite tracks - the syncronised funk romp with guitar, bass, and drums all banging out a rapid complex beat while Gary Cherone punches out the words in his own way, is simply breathtaking, and especially so when you try and mimic the performance on a guitar. It rocks. So I say this to you : BUY THE ALBUM - You are meant to own it, it's fate!

Format:Audio CD
This was one of the first albums that actually got me into music, an absolute masterpiece right from the first blast of 'Warheads' through to the 3-part 21 minute long rock symphony of 'Every Thing Under the Sun'. The bands previous album 'Pornograffitti' was heavier and funkier but this album traded the crunch for epic majesty, check out 'Colour Me Blind' for instance. The band showed their more political side in this album aswell, songs like 'Rest In Peace', 'Politicalamity' and Peacemaker Die' all demonstrate this. The album becomes gentler in the 'mine' section with some brilliant more mellow tracks like 'Stop the World' and 'Tragic Comic', before exploding into the glorious 'Everything Under the Sun'. As a band and as individuals this is the defining moment musically for Extreme. Gary Cherone had one album with Van Halen, Nuno Bettencourt did one solo album and two ablbums with his new band Mourning Widows, all of these have had their merit, especially Mourning Widows, (who really deserve to be released in Britain, get them over here NOW!!), but none have reached the peaks of 'III sides..'. If you want to get into Extreme, get this album, then Pornograffitti. Both are immense, but for me 'III Sides is true genious. I will never tire of this album, purelt due to the diversity of the music on it. By the way if you play the guitar, Nuno ain't bad!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing album from an amazing band 4 May 2000
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
There may be better albums out there, but I'm hard presses to think of any right now. From the incendiary opening track Warheads, through great rockers (Cupid's Dead, Peacemaker Die), majestic ballads (God Isn't dead?, Stop the world) to the end section and it's full orchestra. I listen to a lot of music, but none that affects me in the same way that this album does. It covers the full gamut of emotions, and has relevant points to make on society and warfare. I first heard it when it came out in 1992, and I've loved it ever since. It hasn't aged at all and still sounds fresh as ever. Extreme were a truly great band who made four astounding albums, with each one being unique. It's a close thing, but this one is probably my favourite. Buy it and your ears will love you...

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best albums of all time! 11 Nov 1999
By R.H
Format:Audio CD
This album is a prime example of how versatile this band is. It's a brilliant musical recording divided into three distinct musical sides. Yours,Mine,& The Truth. The first side is a must have for the avid guitarist : Nuno's rhythmics are impressive particularly with Cupid's Dead and solos are majestic (Rest In Peace : good track by the way) The second section is a more personal side to the band, with some excellent ballads like "Seven Sundays" and "God Isn't Dead?", strong accoustic songs like "Tragic Comic" and one of the best song of the album : "Stop the world" (the casette containt a bonus track : "Don't Leave Me Alone" : this is a another great song which touched my soul with a wonderful solo of synthetiser). The last side "Everything Under the Sun" is stunning : it is an absolutely majestic orchestral section. I can't stop listening to this track. It's unquestionably one of my favorite albums. Buy it, you don't regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb 24 May 2002
Format:Audio CD
This would have to be in my top 10 albums of all time. Great rock - superb singing, tunes, lyrics, and instrumentation - particularly guitar.
(Dare I say it - reminiscent of Queen's Sheer Heart Attack, but without the frivolity).
A must buy!
