This was one of the first albums that actually got me into music, an absolute masterpiece right from the first blast of 'Warheads' through to the 3-part 21 minute long rock symphony of 'Every Thing Under the Sun'. The bands previous album 'Pornograffitti' was heavier and funkier but this album traded the crunch for epic majesty, check out 'Colour Me Blind' for instance. The band showed their more political side in this album aswell, songs like 'Rest In Peace', 'Politicalamity' and Peacemaker Die' all demonstrate this. The album becomes gentler in the 'mine' section with some brilliant more mellow tracks like 'Stop the World' and 'Tragic Comic', before exploding into the glorious 'Everything Under the Sun'. As a band and as individuals this is the defining moment musically for Extreme. Gary Cherone had one album with Van Halen, Nuno Bettencourt did one solo album and two ablbums with his new band Mourning Widows, all of these have had their merit, especially Mourning Widows, (who really deserve to be released in Britain, get them over here NOW!!), but none have reached the peaks of 'III sides..'. If you want to get into Extreme, get this album, then Pornograffitti. Both are immense, but for me 'III Sides is true genious. I will never tire of this album, purelt due to the diversity of the music on it. By the way if you play the guitar, Nuno ain't bad!
