/|\ ... Chickenfoot is the band that I am enjoying today way too much listening to like any albums I did in the 80s walking around town like a rocker with long hair, torn jeans and boots. Supergroup and the big guys in one of the concert said that they wanna do the music that they grew up listening to. And that's what they are exactly doing in this fun-loving band.

When you see their concert videos, you can tell guys are doing something from the bottom of their heart. To me, Chickenfoot is something like Van Halen or Sammy and Michael with the new guitarist Joe. Or Joe with new singer Sammy. Kinda Van Halen with Satch Tone. Or Satch with Van Halen style. Don't know.

I loved Chickenfoot from their first album Chickenfoot. This album is equally good as their debut album. What is unique about this album is the CD is made in 3D style and you need 3D glasses (included) to go through the cover and booklet. Such a brilliant concept.

Chickenfoot rocks ... /|\

When Sammy took over vocals in Van Halen the sound of the band changed, they took a slightly different direction. Chickenfoot, for me anyway, have carried on in this direction. Superb debut album has been followed up by this little cracker.
I was never a fan of Joe Satriani, too technical a player, but here he seems to come alive more as a band member. Chad and Michael are, as always, solid in their play, and Sammy's vocals just seem to get better with time.
I am not disappointed with this album.

I pre-ordered this package before I headed off to the sun in Algarve for two weeks... and knowing it would be waiting on my return to London helped me deal with heading north again. I got back this evening, and have just listened to it through.

It's a different, more polished sound than the first album. There's almost a Stones-like quality in some of the riffs. I think I'm going to enjoy this!

Second albums are often 'difficult'. But these guys are such consummate musicians that their experience and, well, sheer brilliance, has won the day. I'll never stop enjoying the rawness and sheer exuberance of the first album, but this is another step up for some people for whom I had huge respect already.

Pure class.

And the package is brilliant. I've never looked at a 3D image before (my eyesight is poor, and it's difficult to fit the 3D specs over my existing ones). Great fun. I shall read the mag over the coming days.

I have been waiting for this CD like the Messiah and I was hooked on Facebook by the updates the band was making on a regular basis ... making available samples of each song ...
It's like walking in front of an ice cream shop and tasting all of them ... and all tasting great.

... But those were samples, and you know like me that samples can reveal something bad ... That was not the case : that was far from being the case.
This record reveals (for those who didn't listen to their 1st record) 4 guys having fun and pleasure to play together : you can really feel this.
Besides, compared to their 1st opus, it goes more in one direction than in any but still bring along this freshness they have.
There's no song to trash. They are all great !!!

As for the musicians, Sammy Hagar is really amazing (and I re listened to all VH in the meantime). His voice is better and you can really feel the mood of each song in it.
Joe Satriani, who is sometimes very hard to understand in his solo records, plays its best. Not too much, not too little : just great guitar with killer solos and sounds. It seems that playing in this band is showing the best of him.
Chad Smith does also a great job. He plays wisely and just. Take "3 1/2 letters" and he's beating his drums like a madman that he is or "Big foot" where he does not overplay but just gets the best rythm you can get.
A special grade to Michael Anthony who plays (in my opinion) on this record, the best bass parts he has ever played + it sounds just fantastic.

To sum it up : it thought it was a show off band ... but you're missing a master piece if don't get this one !!!!

What a great album

Not a bad song - just 4 musicians at the top of their games

Highlights for me would be 'Bigfoot' which is the first single, 'Up Next' and 'Different Devil' but there really isnt a bad song

Satriani is great - if you want guitar virtuosity then buy his solo albums - what he gives here is exactly what each song needs!

Sammy's voice is as strong as ever and It's hard to believe this guy is in his 7th decade

Now to the rhythm section - Michael Anthony and Chad Smith both give what in my opinion are the performances of their careers

This album is a doozy!!!

I have just got the new CD - I agree with other reviewers it is excellent.

I am a big Satriani fan and loved VH with Sammy on the vocals. I was a bit worried that Joe might compramise his guitar values in playing with vocals. Great album - in many ways better than the first one - some good lyrics. Cant wait to see it played live. Lets hope they come to the UK soon.
