More About the Author

I am a committed educationalist with a passion for teaching and learning. I am always trying to produce learning materials that are fun, dynamic, exciting and relevant. Trying to make a real difference to young people's lives and trying to ensure that, through learning, everyone is a winner. Recent projects include Showtime (learning resource) for the Royal Albert Hall and TCT Stuff (e-magazine and learning resource) for the Teenage Cancer Trust. As a qualified teacher, school inspector and internationally-recognised motivational speaker with an interest in how we all learn, I have been at the forefront of innovative teaching methods for a number of years.

Keen to push the boundaries further, I set up Bongo LLP with a wizard in computer programming. A partnership aimed at exploring and exploiting new learning technologies to the full. The aim is the same: to make learning more relevant and fun! Find out more at www.bongollp.com and watch this space for new products.... we have a lot of exciting stuff on the way.
I work between my home in the south of France and the office in London.

Bought this, alongside a couple of others in the series, as a guidance for developing work for the OCR Nationals L2 in ICT. This book covers the core Unit 1: ICT skils for business and Unit 21: Creating computer graphics.

The book is broken down in to each Assessment Objective (AO1, AO2, etc) and starts by introducing each AO and stating what citeria you need in order to get a Pass, Merit or Destinction, each of which is colour coded. The book then explains in distinct stages how to achieve each task (and subtask) by completing themed projects. The instructions are generally clear and the images are based on Microsoft Office 2003 and Adobe Fireworks CS3 for Unit 21.

There is a website with free resouces, but at this time it is not working!

This book is supposedly aimed at students, but it can be quite wordy and might put some of less able off, hence the four stars. As a source to use for reference and ideas it is very good.

Great price for a school textbook - gave me an opportunity to check it out before arranging for school to buy multiple copies through registered supplier

Useful resource for Unit 1 - even though the course has been updated. That's the problem with ICT - publications cannot keep up with the ever changing software versions and courses!
