I have been doing Jillians 30 day shred and it has only just occured to be by the reviews that only women seem to be doing the dvds!Do any of you female fitness experts see any problems with me a male following her DVDs which seem geared towards women? I was going to get her banish fat, boost Metabolism dvd but feel maybe the exercises are geared to benefit the female frame?
Well I'm not a fitness expert, but the Jillian Michael's workout dvd's are essentially designed for woman as they focus on areas of development which most women struggle with, or simply the areas which require enhancement and definition. Having said that the workout dvd's are primarily developed to improve fitness, so following the workout dvd's won't do you any harm, however if you feel that you are developing muscles in areas which you feel don't convey your masculinity, then perhaps you should find a more male orientated workout dvd. Hope that helps. :)
Thanks SpaceCowGirl for your valid opinion, its a great little 20 minute workout which is improving my fitness without the hassle of going to the gym, the 3rd part is a bit of a killer but I am 54 tomorrow so not doing too bad, once again thanks for taken time to reply, I wish you well for the future.
Although this workout is probably aimed at women, I see no problem with a man doing this DVD. If you're looking to build a lot of muscle, you might want to alternate it with some weight training, but this DVD mostly includes high-intensity cardio, plyometric moves, lunges, squats, press-ups, planks and so on that would be just as effective for a man as for a woman. You might find the strength moves easier than a woman would as most men are naturally a little stronger than women, but despite all Jillian's remarks about getting a great bum and shopping for bikinis, I'd say the workout was fine for both sexes. A super-fit man looking to more body-building type exercises might want to look elsewhere, but the vast majority of men would benefit just as much from this workout as a woman would.
